Water Main Flushing: During the week of July 14, the Madison Water Utility will be flushing water mains in Crestwood and in the neighborhoods between University Avenue and Old Middleton Road. Some residents might experience temporary drops in water pressure and water discoloration.
Southwest Area Plan Comment Opportunity on July 14: All summer, City Parks, Neighborhood Resource Teams and community groups are joining together to host Parks Alive events, including in Southwest area parks. City staff are starting to draft Southwest Area Plan actions, and are eager for more feedback! Come enjoy a free meal and fun activities and share your ideas. The Southwest Area Plan includes the District 19 neighborhood between the Beltline and Schroeder Rd. Visit with Planning Staff at Elver Park, 1250 McKenna Blvd, on Monday, July14, between 5 pm and 7 pm. Another sharing opportunity will be at an art workshop on July 23,

Madison Police Targets Unsafe Driving in District 19: As part of the City of Madison Police Department's ongoing traffic enforcement initiative, officers from the Midtown Police District and the Traffic Enforcement Safety Team (TEST) conducted a focused traffic operation on June 27th and July 1, 2025. The goal: improve pedestrian and bike safety while addressing aggressive driving behavior--specifically speeding and seat belt usage. The enforcement took place on S. Whitney Way at South Hill Drive, a corridor known for its pedestrian activity and a posted speed limit of 25 mph. Between 3 PM and 7 PM, on two separate dates, officers were stationed along the corridor. This included a team of officers and a laser operator monitoring southbound traffic from a strategic position. There were a total of 45 traffic stops.
Madison Police Continue Investigation of District 19 Firearms Violation: On Thursday morning, July 10. the Madison Police Department - Violent Crime Unit, and Madison SWAT personnel served a residential search warrant in the 10 block of Kessel Court, in an effort to locate evidence in what is believed to be related weapons offenses/shootings. A resident was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant. All officers and subjects present during the warrant service were unharmed and the investigation is ongoing.

- Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m. in hybrid format. Agenda items include the three housing forward proposals.
- Police and Fire Commission: The Police and Fire Commission meeting will take place on Monday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m. Agenda items include a discussion of the Police Chief hiring process.
- Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 15, at 4:30 p.m. Agenda items include approving amendments to Tax Incremental Districts in District 2, 4, 6, 8, 13, and 15.
