Report a Problem, West Area Plan Open House Wednesday, Construction noise overnight, New Metro Routes, Events and Announcements

Hello neighbors,

With this lovely spring weather, I have been noticing a few new potholes in the neighborhood. As a reminder, you can report potholes to the Streets department online. Here are a few other items you can easily report:

• Street light outages
• Traffic enforcement concerns
• Graffiti
• Parking enforcement concerns

For a full list of concerns you can report online, see the Report a Problem page. Our excellent City staff are able to respond to most reported issues within a week or so!

West Area Open House - May 10

The West Area Plan team will host an Open House this Wednesday, May 10, 6:30-8:00pm at Lussier Community Education Center, 55 S. Gammon Road. City agencies will give short presentations on projects spanning land use planning, transportation, stormwater management, water quality protection, parks and open space and more. Residents will also have the chance to talk with staff to learn more including how these projects may affect them and how they can be involved. University Ave Construction to Continue Overnight

Tunneling of the 96-inch storm sewer beneath the intersection of Marshall Ct. and University Ave. will begin this week. Please note the tunneling is a continuous operation that will need to occur during the overnight hours. The contractor has noise abatement measures in place and will make every effort to minimize the disturbance. This work is anticipated to be completed by May 15.

Transit Network Redesign Updates!

Metro’s redesign is set to go into effect on Sunday, June 11:

• Schedule information is now available at mymetrobus.com/redesign.
• Currently, you can plan your trip using the Transit App. (Please be sure to set a travel date on or after June 11.)

• Get Involved: City’s First Purpose-Built Shelter Engagement Process Kicks Off: The City of Madison invites the community to get involved in the public engagement process for the City’s first, purpose-built shelter. Public information meetings will be held May 9, 11, and 17. Please see the project page for more information and to register for one of the meetings.
• Conservation Park Tour – Heritage Sanctuary, May 10, 6-7:30pm: It's our annual wildflower walk! Heritage Sanctuary is known for its robust display of “spring ephemeral” wildflowers. Join conservation staff, enjoy the blooms and learn about how this habitat came to be.
• The Madison Night Market returns on May 11, 5-9pm!
• WPCRC Family Fun Night, Friday, May 12, 5:30-8pm: WPCRC Family Fun Nights are in partnership with Madison School and Community Recreation and offer local families a wide selection of fun activities.
• Run Madtown will be hosting a twilight 5K on Saturday May 27th, and a 10K and half marathon on Sunday May 28th. Please be aware of road closures!
• Con Vivo 20th Anniversary Concert, June 3, 7:30pm, First Congregational Church, 1609 University Ave: con vivo!... music with life is celebrating its 20th anniversary season with a special concert featuring 16 musicians and Madison Symphony Music Director John DeMain conducting works by Wagner and Dvorak.

Heads Up!

• Meadowlands and Tree Lane Resource Fairs: Does your organization provide activities, resources, or services that could benefit the children and families living in the Meadowlands and Tree Lane Apartments this summer? Public Health Madison & Dane County is hosting resource fairs at each of these locations in May.

Meadowlands Apartments – 6810 Milwaukee St., May 20th 12-3pm

Tree Lane Family Apartments – 7933 Tree Ln., May 24th 3-6 pm

If you would like to attend one or both of these fairs, please complete this survey by May 12 to assist with planning.

• UW Commencement is this coming weekend. Please be advised that there will be fireworks for the ceremony at Camp Randall at approximately 3:15pm on Saturday, May 13.

• Don’t Miss Your Final Spring Yard Waste Collection: The Streets Division is wrapping up the spring yard waste collection. The final set out for spring yard waste collection in our area is coming up Sunday, May 14.

• Make Music Madison Returns June 21: For the 11th year in a row, the City of Madison will become a stage with hundreds of free live performances throughout the City.
• Seeking people to join Community Policing Advisory Boards to build trust, legitimacy: The Madison Police Department is recruiting individuals now through May 26 to serve on Community Policing Advisory Boards (CPABs) in each of Madison’s six police districts.
• Mow Two Times this Low Mow May: The City invites the community to support its pollinators and green spaces by mowing less and joining in its Low Mow May 2023 efforts.
• REMINDER: Dane CORE 2.0 Rental Assistance Program Applications to Close May 31: Dane County and the City of Madison want to remind residents that the Dane COronavirus REntal program (CORE 2.0), funded by the Federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program through the U.S.
