It’s officially summer! And, of course, it’s also officially construction season.

West Campus District Plan Open Houses

The West Campus District Plan is taking shape. There will be two open houses to discuss the current concepts:

  • June 20, 11am at the Health Sciences Learning Center Atrium
  • June 21, 4pm at the Bakke Recreation and Wellbeing Center (which also affords the public the opportunity to see this amazing new building!)

Metro Transit Network Redesign

The Metro Transit Network Redesign will go into effect Sunday, June 11. It has been 20 years since the last redesign. All routes, schedules, and bus numbers will change. Navigate the changes using these resources:

Events

  • Public Health’s Violence Prevention Unit is hosting a virtual session on Restorative Justice on May 31st from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Please register in advance. The session will be recorded and made available on Public Health’s Violence Prevention Unit webpage.
  • Concerts on the Rooftop: The LoveMonkeys, June 1, 7pm, Monona Terrace Rooftop. The LoveMonkeys blend rock, pop and reggae into one of the most fun and original performances in the Midwest.
  • Wellness Talks: Is There Gain from Pain?, June 2, 12-1pm. Caught in a vicious cycle of stress? Feeling physically tired yet mentally wired? Join this discussion meant to dispel myths often in the way of true recovery and long-term wellness.
  • Live at The Glen-Vince Sweeney, June 2, 5-7:30pm. Enjoy the relaxing music of acoustic guitarist and singer Vince Sweeney, a native Madisonian, whose expansive song list spans decades. Sweeney strings together great cover songs that add up to an enjoyable evening of free live music on the patio at The Glen Golf Park.
  • Take Kids Fishing Day: June 3
  • Cars on State, June 3, 10am-3pm: This family-friendly event offers a perfect day for everyone to come downtown, take a stroll around the Farmers Market on the Square and see a wonderful array of vintage cars on State Street.
  • Tell Us! Community Conversations, June 3 3-4pm and June 5, 10-11am. Provide feedback on our libraries and share your views for future service at Madison's west side libraries. All sessions will be held at the Monroe Street branch.
  • WI Army National Guard Open House, June 3, 11am-4pm, Warner Park. Meet fellow Wisconsinites serving our community in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. See and touch equipment like helicoptors, trucks and special equipment.
  • Pride Ride, June 3, 3:30-5pm: Trek and Forward Madison FC are teaming up once again to celebrate Pride Month and Bike Week with the 2023 Pride Ride! Meet at Breese Stevens Field for a 9-mile group ride to Olin Park and back. Stick around after the ride to enjoy some block party vibes at the field before Forward Madison takes on the Central Valley Fuego later that evening.
  • Loop the Lake, June 17, 8am-2pm. Loop the Lake is more than a bike ride – it’s an opportunity for our community to rally around our lakes!
