A Good Day is a two-part visual land acknowledgement. The Madison Public Market site is in Teejop (day-JOPE), the ancestral and current homeland of the Ho-Chunk Nation. The medallion references the four elements (wind, fire, air, and earth) and their connection to the cardinal directions. The work features native plants and animals such as cattails, cranes, and a Yellow-headed Blackbird. One panel nods to the historic discovery of ancient canoes nearby in lake Mendota. In the center, the design honors the cultural significance of the three sisters: corn, beans and squash.
