Highland Manor Park - Storm Shelter
The Reservable Shelter serves as a safe place for community residents to take shelter in severe weather. The Highland Manor Neighborhood Association provides safety teams who open and supervise the building during severe thunderstorm weather events. Safety teams monitor NOAA weather radios and the local radio and television news media to anticipate the development of severe weather. In addition to the safety teams operation, a special pre-programmed weather radio inside the building automatically unlocks the front door when the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning for Dane County. The safety teams monitor weather alerts until the severe weather event has expired.
Parking
The adjacent parking lot provides 26 standard and 2 accessible stalls. Overflow parking is available on Moorland Road. Street parking within the community is not allowed and is subject to ticketing and/or towing.
