This will be the first election overseen by Lydia McComas in her capacity as Madison’s new City Clerk. My thanks to Lydia and her team for all the work they’ve been doing and will do to oversee this spring’s elections. The Clerk’s Office has been working hard to update internal processes and safeguards to ensure free, fair, and accessible elections. My husband and I usually vote early using the in-person absentee process and will do so again this spring.

Are you registered to vote?

You can register online at MyVote WI or at the Clerk’s Office in the City County Building at 210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Room 105. You can also register on Election Day at your polling place. Please see these important reminders about voter registration.

Measles Case in Dane County, Information from Public Health

Public Health Madison & Dane County continues to investigate the confirmed case of measles in Dane County.

Measles can be prevented by the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) immunization. The MMR vaccine can protect you from serious illness. Most people got the measles vaccination since two doses are required for school entry. WI Department of Health Services considers people who received two doses of measles vaccine as children according to the U.S. vaccination schedule protected for life, and they do not ever need a booster dose.

Are you protected from measles? Wisconsin residents can look up their immunization records using the online Wisconsin Immunization Registry

Madison Mayor’s Message About Immigration Enforcement

"I would like to take a moment to assure community members who are concerned regarding potential ICE action in our city. Madison is — and will remain — a welcoming city that supports its immigrant and refugee communities.

City of Madison staff are closely coordinating with emergency management personnel, local law enforcement, and the organizations who are directly serving our immigrant populations. We are also engaged in scenario-planning for situations that other cities have faced in recent months and are in touch with staff in those cities to make sure that we learn from their experience. The City’s  Know Your Rights page has links to useful information about how to protect yourself, your family and our community.  Our priority, as always, is to keep Madison safe.

There are many ways you can uphold our values while keeping everyone safe from harm. Consider supporting organizations that work with our immigrant community members. Make sure you know your rights and share that information with your networks. Stop doomscrolling on social media and get to know your neighbors. Our community is a better place when we know and support each other." — Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway
