The Southeast area is home to over 25,000 residents and a major employment hub with more than 16,000 employees. The area includes established

 neighborhoods, key corridors like Milwaukee Street and Cottage Grove Road, and popular parks such as Olbrich Park, Hiestand Park, and Owl Creek Park. 

This storymap walks through what Area Plans are and highlights topics covered in the plan.  A second storymap review draft action and map highlights. 

 The Southeast Area Plan will guide future growth and improvements to support strong neighborhoods, good jobs, and great places to live, work, and play. 

 

Project Update

The project team shared draft actions and maps with several City committees and commissions and collected public comments from October 17 to December 4. Commenting is no longer active. Staff are now reviewing feedback and preparing a final draft of the plan. 

The final draft and the schedule for additional review and a future Madison Common Council meeting will be posted here when available.

The Southeast Area is approximately 7,000 acres (10.9 square miles) and is generally bounded by the State Highway 30 to the north, Interstate 90 to the east, City of Monona to the west, and Siggelkow Road / Village of McFarland to the South.
