MPD investigating after car crashes into apartment building

The Madison Police Department is investigating after a driver crashed into an occupied apartment building.

Officers and the Madison Fire Department were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Olin Avenue around 5:15 p.m. on Monday.

The driver was sitting in the parking lot, with this vehicle in drive, when the vehicle accelerated rapidly and crashed into a building.

The driver was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Based on information that officers obtained during their investigation, Probable Cause was established that the driver operating his vehicle while impaired. A search warrant was completed for a blood draw.

In addition, officers were informed the driver may have also suffered a medical event.

This incident remains under investigation at this time.
