The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on June 12 to 6:00am on June 15 we received 1,404 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • West: 177
  • Other: 46

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, June 12:

Priority calls only from 4:23pm to 8:16pm due to calls for service. 

  • 2:58am – Central – Drug Incident: Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive subject (61-year-old male). Drugs/drug paraphernalia observed by the subject. The subject was revived and arrested for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  
  • 5:46am – North – Check Person: Caller reported that there was an intruder in their home. Officers arrive on scene as the caller reported that the intruder was trying to get into their bedroom.  Officers made entry to the home and found no one other than the caller and their young child present. Concerns were identified about the caller's mental health. Concerns were also raised about the condition of the home. CPS contacted. Local mental health provider consulted. No legal grounds for police intervention identified and officers disengaged.  
  • 10:36am – Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a hotel for a report of a deceased subject (70-year-old male). The decedent had been staying at the hotel since January. Staff entered the room to clean it and found the subject unresponsive. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
  • 10:42am – South – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject.  The subject was contacted. No resources necessary at this time.  
  • 12:21pm – West – Suspicious Person: Officers responded to the splash pad at Elver Park for concerns of a 32-year-old male subject filming children. The subject was contacted. Subject's phone seized. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.  
  • 12:52pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Initial call was for EMS as a subject was in distress after falling. Information was gathered that this was a domestic disturbance involving a 74-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, and strangulation. 
  • 12:53pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers observed a vehicle with a license plate that did not match the vehicle at a convenience store. The registered owner of the vehicle came back as having a warrant. Officers went to make contact and found the vehicle to be unoccupied. Two subjects exited the convenience store and walked to a vehicle that was parked behind the vehicle in question. Officers asked the subjects if they saw who drove the vehicle in question. A 24-year-old male subject stated he had driven the vehicle. Officers requested an ID from the subject. The subject provided a false name. The officers went to detain the subject and he resisted their efforts. The subject was properly identified and found to have probable cause for their arrest. The subject was arrested on the PC and a new charge of resisting.
  • 3:35pm – East – Battery: Officers responded to a physical disturbance involving a 17-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for physical abuse to a child as the victim was under the age of 18.  
  • 4:17pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance. A 29-year-old male picked up and threw a pregnant subject to the ground (caught on video surveillance). The subject was arrested for domestic battery. A 15-year-old female subject was arrested for criminal damage to property and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.
  • 9:06pm – Disturbance: Disturbances popped up at Goodman Pool throughout the day. Officers remained in the area monitoring until the pool closed. Numerous fights broke out. OC had to be utilized due to punches being thrown and physical fighting taking place. Two juveniles received restorative justice referrals and were released to a parent.  
  • 10:10pm – South – Intoxicated Driver: As part of an OWI grant on the beltline, a 38-year-old female subject/driver was pulled over for going 75mph (Beltline/Todd Drive). There were two children in the vehicle. The driver was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3rd offense) with minor passengers, operating after revocation, and failure to install IID. The subject was also cited for speeding. The children were turned over to the care of a family member.
  • 10:27pm – North – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted due to speeding (54mph in a 35). The 18-year-old male driver/subject was found to be in possession of marijuana. The subject was arrested for possession of marijuana and felony bail jumping. The subject was also cited for speeding.   

Saturday, June 13:

Priority calls only from 4:49am to 9:21am due to calls for service.

  • 12:37am – South – Sexual Assault of a Child: An officer observed a vehicle with fogged up windows in a parking lot of Penn Park. Contact made with the two occupants in the vehicle. An 18-year-old male subject was found to be in possession of a loaded AR15 rifle. The subject was detained/arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. The subject was also arrested for 2nd degree sexual assault of a child (due to the age of the other subject in the vehicle).
  • 4:30am – Central – Attempted Homicide: Shots fired were called out by officers who were in the area of W. Gilman St/State St. Video footage showed a male subject (18-year-old) open fire into a vehicle. Two victims showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.   • 8:36am – Midtown – Check Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). The subject was subsequently transported to Winnebago.
  • 6:38pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 35-year-old male subject was arrested for trespassing and disorderly conduct. The subject was trying to set up stand at a festival that he was not registered for. The subject had been previously warned about not being able to participate in this event. The subject caused a disturbance when officers made contact with him.
  • 7:13pm – West – Crash: Officers responded to a crash (Beltline/Whitney Way). It was reported that a passenger (38-year-old male) in the vehicle grabbed the steering wheel during an argument which caused the vehicle to crash. The subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.
  • 7:17pm – Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a subject who fell off a roof they were working on. The subject was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Investigation continuing.
  • 10:15pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject. The subject was involved in a verbal argument with two other subjects in the parking lot at Woodman's. The subject threatened the other 2 involved parties, followed them in his car, and rammed their car. A physical altercation broke out between the subject and one of the other involved parties. The subject fled in a vehicle. The subject came into contact with officers later in the evening as his vehicle became disabled on the beltline. He was arrested for substantial battery, hit-and-run, disorderly conduct (2 counts), bail jumping (7 counts), and criminal operating after revocation. The subject was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • 10:23pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

Sunday, June 14:

Priority calls only from 9:09am to 9:53am due to calls for service. 

  • 1:08am – Central – Battery: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old male subject. Officers went to contact the subject and he fled on foot. The subject was apprehended/detained. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, obstruction, and a probation hold.
  • 5:41am – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male subject. The subject showed up at the victim's home unannounced/uninvited and started an argument about the victim dating someone else. The subject attempted to gain entry to the home. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
  • 12:52pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 300 block of W. Dayton St for a 42-year-old female subject causing a disturbance and yelling at bystanders. Officers made contact with the subject and she was uncooperative/resistive. The subject was arrested for resisting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
  • 4:15pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence. Local mental health resource plugged in. An emergency detention was sought/approved. The subject was placed at a local facility. Criminal charges forthcoming.
  • 5:17pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to S. Ingersoll for a report of a huge fight with OC involved. As officers began arriving in the area the subjects scattered. Subjects that remained in the area uncooperative with officers.
  • 5:39pm – Midtown – Strong Armed Robbery: Officers responded to an attempted armed robbery.  Caller advised they observed a male subject (25-year-old) trying to take a purse from the victim. The caller honked and the subject fled from the area. Areas canvassed. The subject was located and arrested for attempted strong armed robbery, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal damage to property, and felony bail jumping.  
  • 8:36pm – East – Child Abuse: A 21-year-old male subject threatened a minor the day prior. The subject was at a park, saw the same minor/victim, and body-slammed them to the ground. The subject also punched the victim in the face. The subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child (2 counts) and disorderly conduct. The subject was banned from all city parks.
  • 8:55pm – Midtown – Battery: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 36-year-old female subject. The subject was upset with the victim because they were not able to buy drugs from anyone. The subject armed herself with a knife and swung it around towards the victim. The subject became locked outside the residence. The subject damaged the victim's vehicle and was able to get back into the residence where she punched the victim. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, battery, criminal damage to property, and a probation violation. The subject was also charged with threats towards law enforcement.
  • 10:27pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: An officer came across two subjects with outstanding warrants. The subjects were detained and arrested. 43-year-old female subject was charged with 2 outstanding warrants and possession of cocaine. 57-year-old male subject was arrested for 3 outstanding warrants.

Monday, June 15:

Priority calls only from 1:25am to 4:10am due to calls for service. 

  • 1:02am – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a glass breaking and yelling. Officers located a 27-year-old male subject banging on a door of a residence. Officers went to detain the subject to investigate what was occurring and he resisted their efforts. Officers made entry to the home to check the welfare of any occupants. No one was home. The house was found in disarray – broken windows, broken TV, broken lamps, etc.  It was learned that the subject came over to a family member's home intoxicated and the family member left due to the subject's behavior. The subject remained uncooperative with officers and ended up in SEG at the jail. Charges – domestic criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, burglary, and resisting.
