Issis Macias and Rodrigo Carapia collaborate to honor their shared Mexican heritage. The two artists have distinctive styles. Macias creates the bold, colorful, abstractions in the background. Carapia adds his imagery on top to compliment the background. The axolotl (pronounced AX-oh-lot-ul) is native to the Xochimilco lake region of Mexico City. This endangered salamander has the amazing ability to regenerate limbs and organs. It is significant to the people of Mexico where it represents transformation, resilience, and renewal.
