Origin Story is a reimagination of Tyanna Buie's earlier work about her mother, Bust of an Unknown Woman. This mural is an invitation to consider the ways we are shaped by the women who came before us and by the natural world that sustains us. Through this work, Buie has created a figure that is not representational of one individual, but a symbol of shared desire for connection, care, and belonging.
