Burn Permits
Outdoor burning including bonfires, ceremonial fires, and prairie burns.

Construction & Work Permits
Plan submittal, fire apparatus access, and work permits.

Fireworks Permits
Fireworks sales, events, and shooter permits.

Public Events
Permits for amusement buildings and temporary structures (tents).
Fees
- Licenses: Most license fees are $125 per license.
- Permits: Permit fees vary.
Make all checks out to the City of Madison Treasury.
Licensing Rules
- Some licenses may require an inspection before we issue them.
- Licenses are valid for no more than 1 year. Annual licenses are valid July 1 to June 30 of the following year.
- Licenses are not transferable. Any changes in ownership will require a new license.
- You must display your license prominently at all times.
