New Hanson Property Gates

After a long wait, the gates at Hanson Rd are finally ready for use. We wanted to provide some information and guidance as to how they work and what we can do with them. We will start using the gates effective Friday 12/19.

  • The person gates have our normal access control pin pad by the gates for employees to access the property.
  • All of the 2300’s and staff vehicles have RFID tags installed on them. There is a long-range RFID reader at both gates that pickup the vehicles roughly 15’ away and activate the gates to enter the property.
    • The 40’ buses do not have the RFID tags. If these buses arrive at Hanson they will need to be let in.
  • The gates have in-ground loops for automatic opening upon exit. Just pull up to the gate and it will open.
  • Located by the employee pin pads are also intercoms. These intercoms will allow visitors and deliveries to gain access.
    • When the intercom button is pressed, it will ring to the office phone at the Hanson shop office or Hanson dispatch window, respectively.
    • Caller ID will say Hanson Gate
    • When answering the phone you will be able to talk back and forth with the visitor.
    • While on the call dial  **  to activate the person gate or *2 to activate the vehicle gate.
  • The regular weekly vendors that stop at Hanson have been instructed to use the 3901 gate as the primary gate. This is due to the dispatch window being more regularly staffed, the maint sups are out on the floor often and away from the phone. These vendors typically arrive between 6:30a-11:30a.
  • After discussion with Schmidt’s towing they will access the property by either using the intercom or be led in by the shop truck that usually accompanies them.

Still to come is the ability to use our handheld radios to activate the gates. I will provide an update and directions once that is ready to implement
