The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of Calls

From 6:00am on November 21 to 6:00am on November 24 we received 1,115 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 202

  • South: 132
  • West: 167
  • Other: 30

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, November 21:

Priority calls only from 5:14pm to 7:41pm due to calls for service.

  • 8:10am – West – Retail Theft: Officers responded to Target for a 58-year-old male suspect trespassing (after being previously banned from the property for theft). The suspect was located nearby the business with a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise. The suspect has 9 open CCAP cases, 7 of which have bail conditions prohibiting him from being in possession of alcohol (which he was) and from being at Target (which he had been at). The suspect was arrested for bail jumping (7 counts) and felony retail theft.  
  • 10:50am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers received a request to check on the welfare of a 62-year-old male suspect smashing a bottle outside and making a subject uncomfortable as they walked their dog. Officers made contact with the suspect who proceeded to break a wooden fence. The suspect refused to identify himself to officers. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with criminal damage to property. The suspect continued to not cooperate during the booking process at jail and was placed in seg.
  • 1:52pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance that occurred the previous night involving a 29-year-old male suspect. The victim reported being physically assaulted and strangled during the altercation. The victim sustained visible injuries. The suspect was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and strangulation. Child Protective Services notified as there was a child in the home.
  • 4:17pm – West – Check Area: Officers responded to a business for a report of a person with a gun. It was reported that the suspect (juvenile) with the gun had several other juveniles with them. Officers arrived in the area, observed subjects matching the descriptions provided, and detained 4 juveniles (13-year-old male, 16-year-old male, 14-year-old male, 14-year-old male). A loaded firearm was recovered in the area. The 13-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. One of the 14-year-olds had outstanding probable cause for battery. He was transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. The 16-year-old was listed as missing/runaway in the databases. He was returned home. The other 14-year-old was released to a family member.
  • 7:17pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a convenience store for an unwanted customer (51-year-old male).  The suspect left the area on a bike, was reported to be intoxicated, and weaving in/out of traffic (Lien Rd). The suspect was observed by officers and contact is made. The suspect was not cooperative with officers. The suspect resisted officers and threatened them. The subject was arrested for resisting, threats to law enforcement, possession of burglarious tools, and bail jumping (misdemeanor). The suspect continued to not cooperate during the booking process at jail and was placed in seg.
  • 8:32pm – Central – Weapons Offense: An uber with 6 passengers was stopped when a 35-year-old male suspect walked around the vehicle with a gun, pointing it at the occupants in the uber, and yelling. The uber driver took off but had to come to a stop due to traffic. The suspect repeated his behavior. The uber driver again was able to take off and this time lost the suspect. The suspect got into a crash a short time later. The other driver took a photo of the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was identified. The weapons offense was captured on video. The suspect remains at-large. Probable cause developed to charge the suspect with 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, intentionally pointing a firearm at person, disorderly conduct while armed, and carrying a concealed weapon.
  • 10:08pm – East – Missing Adult: A 26-year-old male subject was reported missing from a local group home. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.

Saturday, November 22:

Priority calls only from 7:27pm to 8:37pm due to calls for service.

  • 1:12am – North – Disturbance: Officers were in the lot of a venue monitoring the crowd when they were advised of females fighting. Officers broke up the fight and encouraged people to leave the area. A 46-year-old female suspect continued to engage in fighting and was arrested for disorderly conduct. She resisted officers. She was also charged with resisting and taken to jail.
  • 3:40am – West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 48-year-old male suspect. The suspect hit the victim in the face, backed the victim into a corner, and took away the victim’s phone preventing them from calling for help. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and intimidation of a victim.
  • 4:27am – Central – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a report of an unconscious person behind the wheel of a vehicle in a parking ramp. Officers opened the door of the vehicle to make contact with the driver (29-year-old male). The driver woke up, put the vehicle in reverse, and started to back up which caused the officer to have to walk backwards with the vehicle. The officer was able to get control of the driver who then applied the brakes. The driver was processed for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), resisting, and 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.
  • 10:26am – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a 39-year-old male suspect stumbling around on Metro property. The subject was contacted and found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was taken to jail.
  • 1:07pm – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a physical disturbance involving a 35-year-old female suspect. The suspect pulled the victim’s hair, struck the victim in the face, and scratched the victim’s arm. The suspect was arrested on domestic-related charges and booked into jail.
  • 3:59pm – East – Intoxicated Driver: Officers observed a stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver (62-year-old male) did not stop. A pursuit was initiated as the driver is a suspect in a strong armed robbery from the day prior. The suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a concrete barrier. No injuries reported. The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense). Additional charges forthcoming.
  • 5:10pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (86-year-old female). Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 9:32pm – North – Stolen Auto: A 21-year-old male suspect steals a friend’s phone and vehicle. Attempt to locate aired. Officers were later called to a rollover crash involving this vehicle/suspect. The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and theft.
  • 10:06pm – North – Strong Armed Robbery: The suspect in the stolen auto call above was reportedly driving recklessly when he stopped to ask a subject who was out walking their dog for directions. The subject pulled out their phone to look up directions for the suspect when he stole their phone and took off at a high rate of speed. The subject was leaning inside the vehicle still when it took off. The subject was dragged and they fell on top of their dog who sustained significant injuries to where they will likely need to be put down. The suspect was located/arrested and charged with 2nd degree reckless endangering safety and strong armed robbery.
  • 10:45pm – Central – Crash: The suspect involved in the stolen auto and strong armed robbery calls above crashed into 9 vehicles after committing these crimes. The suspect attempted to leave the area in the vehicle and struck 4 additional vehicles. The suspect fled on foot. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody (2nd offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, eluding, 2 counts of reckless driving, outstanding warrants and numerous traffic citations).  

Sunday, November 23:

Priority calls only from 12:06am to 3:41pm due to calls for service.

  • 12:50am – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a subject walking in the street with blood on their face. Witnesses reported that the subject was attempting to open vehicle doors. The subject was contacted and found to be a victim of a battery. The subject was highly intoxicated. The subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation/treatment. The subject threatened officers. After a medical clearance, officers went to take the subject into custody for the threats he made. The subject actively resisted. The subject was arrested for threats to law enforcement, resisting, and disorderly conduct (43-year-old male).
  • 5:17am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing infant. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but they were not successful. Death appears to be related to co-sleeping. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 5:21am – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing infant. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but they were not successful. Death appears to be related to co-sleeping. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 6:44am – Midtown – Check Person: Homeowners called to report a fully naked unknown subject was in their home and trying to climb into their bed. The subject was found to be intoxicated and confused. The subject was identified and taken home.
  • 7:03am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (60-year-old female). Lifesaving measures were attempted, but were not successful. The decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 7:58am – Midtown – Attempt to Locate: Officers were advised that Morgan Geyser was missing from her group home and had cut off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet.  MPD provided a timeline of events on our website/incident report system.  Morgan Geyser was ultimately located in Illinois at approximately 10:34pm. Incident Report.
  • 11:51am – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (79-year-old male). Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 5pm – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving two subjects. A male subject physically assaulted another subject. The suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the suspect did not stop. MPD did not pursue the suspect/vehicle. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect, whose identity has not yet been established.
  • 6:51pm – Midtown – Damage to Property: Officers responded to a report of a 48-year-old female subject shattering windows of businesses (2700 block of University Ave). A subject matching the description of the suspect was observed and detained. The suspect was arrested for criminal damage to property and transported to jail.
  • 11:24pm – Midtown – Check Area: Officers responded to the 2300 block of Allied Drive for numerous reports of shots fired. Areas checked. No evidence of shots fired located.

Monday, November 24:

  • 12:28am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a 36-year-old male subject assaulting people with a hammer, knives, and a long stick. Contact made with several subjects. The suspect was taken into custody and subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct, outstanding probable cause, and several outstanding warrants.
  • 2:38am – North – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to a report of a man who pulled a gun on the caller. Officers were on scene when the 26-year-old male suspect returned to the area. A BB gun was located. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, and several municipal citations.
