Blackhawk at University Intersection Improvements & Bike Connections

Safety improvements are being considered for the intersection of University Ave at N Blackhawk Ave to eliminate serious/fatal crashes and make it easier for people walking and biking to cross University Ave. Potential changes:

  • Restrict left turns from Blackhawk Ave onto University Ave
    • Left turns from University Ave onto Blackhawk Ave or Joyce Erdman Pl would still be allowed
  • Create a diagonal two-stage crossing with a rapid flashing beacon crossing light for pedestrians and bikes
    • The current crosswalk would be removed
