Officers stop stolen auto in Arbor Hills neighborhood

January 12, 2014 2:25 PM

On Saturday January 11th, shortly before 10:00 p.m., an alert South District officer observed a Ford Expedition vehicle driving erratically as the vehicle exited the W Beltline Highway in the area of the frontage road and Todd Drive. The officer quickly realized this vehicle was a stolen vehicle out of the Wisconsin Dells as it had been aired earlier by the Dane County 911 Center. The officer activated their red lights and siren and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, though, refused to stop until reaching the 3000 block of Ashford Lane in the Arbor Hills neighborhood.  Numerous MPD officers and other law enforcement agencies also responded to the scene as the occupants were not initially cooperative.  In the end, the officers took into custody a number of juveniles. The driver was a Madison area juvenile who was AWOL from a Milwaukee area group home where he was supposed to be. None of the youth, or the officers, were injured in this incident., However, residents in the Ashford Lane area were likely surprised by the large presence of squad cars and police in the area Saturday night until the stop scene was under control.

If any residents in the Arbor Hills neighborhood has further questions about this incident from Saturday night, please contact the South Police District on Monday at 266-5938.
