Here's what's next:

About: Wiseman Capital Group proposes to convert the 135-room Super 8 Hotel at 4765 Hayes Road to approximately 132 units of multifamily housing. No demolition of existing structures would take place. The hotel is currently a commercial use and transitioning it to a multi-family use of this size in the current zoning district will require conditional use approval.

What's next? The application for 4757 Hayes Rd has been accepted and will be on the August 28th Plan Commission agenda. Plan Commission is the approving body for the application so this item does not go to Common Council. The application will now be sent out for review to city agencies. Planning staff will begin working on the staff report which will include a staff recommendation and conditions of approval from city agencies. A hearing notice will be sent out to residents within 200 feet of the property 10 days before the August 28th meeting.

MADISON, WI – Beginning September 1, the Madison City Clerk’s Office will close from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.  for a daily staff meeting.  Since 2020, the increasing complexity of election administration and health licensing have made staff communication critical.

The Clerk’s Office operates weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Metro BRT Updates

Madison East-West BRT Construction Update
Week of August 14, 2023

Work continues along Mineral Point Road, Whitney Way and Sheboygan Avenue, University at Midvale, East Campus Mall, Anderson St, and East Washington Avenue. Highlights for next week include forming and pouring planters along Mineral Point, restoration work at East Campus Mall, sidewalks along Anderson, and pouring concrete for curbs, pavement, and sidewalks, along the eastern end of East Washington.

Anderson Street between Wright and Highway 51 is reopening, and traffic should reopen at Sheboygan east of Eau Claire by the end of this month. Watch for bus detours around these locations to end soon. Work is underway on East Washington at First and Fourth St, and is scheduled to begin at Baldwin, Paterson, and Blair, within the next two to three weeks.

The public's patience and cooperation continues to be appreciated. Each location can take up to 3-4 months to complete, but factors ranging from inclement weather to supply delays can change these timelines. Please also note that completing work and reopening does not mean the station is 100% complete; crews will continue working intermittently on other tasks, some of which may require short-term closures and other temporary safety measures.

Construction crews are working closely with the city to safely manage traffic and travel at each site with as little inconvenience as possible. Please feel free to reach out to BRTconstruction@cityofmadison.com if you have any concerns.
