Meetings

  • Common Council:  The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 in hybrid format at 6:30 PM. Agenda items include an update to land subdivision regulations, directing staff to take the steps necessary to conduct an experimental closure of the 400-600 blocks of State Street, authorizing the City of Madison to accept a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support the development of a Permanent Men's Shelter, encouraging employers to honor Juneteenth as a paid holiday, and more!
 

 

  • Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, July 24, 2023 in virtual format at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include development related requests in Districts 4, 9, 15, and 16, zoning text amendments to add an exception to height and story minimum requirements, and more!
   
  • Street Use Staff Commission: The Street Use Staff Commission meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2023 in virtual format at 10:00 AM. Agenda items include the consideration, discussion, and vote of street use permits for events such as Africa Fest, apartment move-ins, Rockin’ Brews Marathon, the UW Madison homecoming parade, and more!
   
  • Vending Oversight Committee: The Vending Oversight Committee meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in virtual format at 5:00 PM. Agenda items include directing staff to take the steps necessary to conduct an experimental closure of the 400-600 blocks of State Street, a review of 2023 fall food carts, and more!
   
  • Joint Campus Area Committee: The Joint Campus Area Committee meeting will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2023 in virtual format at 4:45 PM. Agenda items include informational presentations on the Letters & Science Biology Building Study and the Engineering Academic/Research Building, project updates from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, UW Health, and the City of Madison, and more!
   

·       Lake Monona Waterfront - Master Plan Update, Monday, July 24, 2023The community is invited to join Madison Parks for an update on the Lake Monona Waterfront planning initiative. Join us at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, Lecture Hall on Monday, July 24 as representatives from the Sasaki design team present proposed revisions to their plan for the lakeshore based on the community input received during the first phase of the design challenge. The team is working closely with the Lake Monona Waterfront Ad-hoc Committee to prepare an updated plan for Common Council consideration this fall.

 

·       Public Input Meeting - Country Grove Park, Thursday, July 27, 2023Country Grove Park is getting a park shelter building and we want to hear from you!  The shelter building will include restrooms, a covered picnic area, and small parking lot.

The community is invited to provide input on the design of the shelter, parking lot, basketball and futsal courts.

·       Wild Rumpus: An Anji Play Experience, Monday, July 24, 2023Enjoy child-led play at A Wild Rumpus based on the educational approach of AnjiPlay. The library will provide special play equipment to spark your children's imagination at two parks this summer. Messy clothes and a water bottle are encouraged. Bring your own picnic dinner and make an evening of it! All ages and abilities are welcome. No registration needed.

 

·       NewBridge Summer Concert Series, Monday, July 24, 2023Concert series sponsored by NewBridge Madison, at Warner Park. Carts in Parks event! Enjoy some treats from local food vendors.

·       East Side Farmers' Market, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 The Eastside Farmers' Market is Madison Wisconsin’s finest weekday farmers' market. Our goal is to bring the freshest Wisconsin grown food direct to the heart of the East side. Our vendor members are agricultural producers and food artisans who make value added products from Wisconsin's agricultural bounty.

·       Dane County Farmers' Market - Wednesday Market, Wednesday, July 26, 2023The Wednesday Dane County Farmers’ Market is located on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in between the Madison Municipal Building and the City County Building. While more intimate than the Saturday Market, you will still find many of your favorite Dane County Farmers’ Market members, as well as a full array of fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, bakery items, cut flowers, plants, and many specialty items.

 

·       The Capitol View Farmers’ Market, Wednesday, July 26, 2023: The Capitol View Farmers Market is returning to the North Star Neighborhood! ·       Concerts on the Square, Wednesday, July 26, 2023The Capitol Square comes alive for six consecutive Wednesdays during the summer months with music from the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. FREE and open to the public, grab a blanket, a picnic basket, and your family and friends for this Madison tradition!

 

·       Learn to Fish with WI DNR, Wednesday, July 26, 2023Learn to Fish with Madison Parks and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources!  There is no cost to attend (advanced registration is required), however, anglers ages 16 and older will need a Wisconsin fishing license, which can be purchased online at Go Wild . For first-time license buyers, the cost is just $5 for an annual permit. See license options . Wisconsin DNR's Fishmobile will be onsite with all the fishing equipment needed to participate. This event is open to adults and children and is ideal for persons aged 7 years and older. Children must be supervised by a parent or adult guardian. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver for themselves and their children, upon arrival.

 

·       All-City Swim Meet, Thursday, July 27, 2023Watch the Goodman Waves Swim Team compete at the All-City Swim Meet at the Goodman Pool! Spectators are welcome! The All-City Swim Meet is a three-day event hosting more than 2,000 swimmers and 6,000 spectators and is one of the nation’s largest outdoor amateur swim meets. Each area pool in the Madison area league hosts the Meet once every 13 years, and this is Goodman Pool's first time hosting.

 

·       Parks Alive | Penn Park, Thursday, July 27, 2023Parks Alive builds stronger neighborhoods and connects neighbors to their parks through fun, family-friendly activities, music and free food. ·       All-City Swim Meet, Friday, July 28, 2023Watch the Goodman Waves Swim Team compete at the All-City Swim Meet at the Goodman Pool! Spectators are welcome! The All-City Swim Meet is a three-day event hosting more than 2,000 swimmers and 6,000 spectators and is one of the nation’s largest outdoor amateur swim meets. Each area pool in the league hosts the Meet once every 13 years, and this is Goodman Pool's first time hosting.

 

·       Live at The Glen | Vince Sweeney, Friday, July 28, 2023Live at The Glen featuring Vince Sweeny! Enjoy the relaxing music of acoustic guitarist and singer Vince Sweeney, a native Madisonian whose expansive song list spans decades. ·       Summer Nights at Segoe, Friday, July 28, 2023Carts in Parks: The City of Madison Carts in Parks program continues in 2022 and will be regularly featured at parks around Madison! Food carts are scheduled at a variety of parks and community events through the summer. Many of the food carts accept credit for payment, but not all. Please plan accordingly. The exact food cart(s) and the schedule are subject to change. Weather may impact or cancel vending activities.

 

·       Mad Lit: Where Arts and Culture Shine, Friday, July 28, 2023Mad Lit is a free, outdoor concert series featuring live music and highlighting local musicians, artists, and businesses owners of color. The series runs every other Friday from June through September from 8-11pm at the top of State Street in Madison and includes live music, dance, pop-up shops, and visual exhibits.

 

·       Night Moth Walk, Friday, July 28, 2023: Join naturalist Jeff Steele on this new night walk to see and learn about moths and other night-flying insects. We'll walk to different viewing spots to view insects under ultraviolet light. Be prepared for mosquitoes. A flashlight may be helpful for walking. Sponsored by the Friends of Cherokee Marsh and Madison Parks.

·       Disability Pride Festival, Saturday, July 29, 2023Art, music, exhibitors, pontoon boat rides and more by people with disabilities for our friends and beloved community. Come join us in celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act, and pushing for greater access for all.

 

·       Food Cart Pop-up, Sunday, July 30, 2023: Pop over to your neighborhood park for a Food Cart Pop-up! Scheduled at various times and in parks across the city, food carts and trucks, offering desserts, coffee, dinner and more, add to the fun of your favorite City of Madison parks.

·       Street Closure--Kinsman BlvdKinsman Blvd will be fully closed on the east side of N Stoughton Road for concrete paving from 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 24 until 7:00 a.m. Monday, July 31.  

·       Dane Dances Announces "A Season of Togetherness"Dane Dances is enthusiastically kicking off its 24th season, "A Season of Togetherness," on Friday, August 4 from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. New this year they'll engage the audience with DJ Francis Medrano and free dance lessons starting at 5:30 pm each week
