
Highlights for the Week of September 19, 2022
postedThe Common Council will meet in hybrid format at 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 20. The proposed ordinance that would prohibit the Madison Police Department and law enforcement responding under mutual aid from using tear gas, mace, impact projectile devices or other chemical agent for the purposes of crowd control is on the agenda. (FYI: I do not support the proposed change)
5602 & 5606 Schroeder Road at Urban Design Commission (UDC)The proposed project at 5602 & 5606 Schroeder Road will be on the agenda at Wednesday's UDC meeting.

- Free Fair Housing Trainings for Owners and Managers of Rental Property - Seminar will include information about protected classes and prohibited practices delineated by local, state and federal fair housing laws, as well as emerging issues such as sexual harassment and hate incidents in housing situations. National Literacy Month: September is National Literacy Month. Here are a couple of ways you can celebrate by supporting adult literacy:
- Volunteer as a tutor. Volunteer tutors make programs possible. Volunteers work one on one with students to help improve their literacy skills. Training is provided. Learn more about volunteering.
- Sign up for classes. The fall semester has started! Contact Literacy Network at 608-244-3911 if you or someone you know is interested in improving English reading, writing, and/or speaking skills; becoming a U.S. citizen; or earning a high school diploma.
