Housing Week starts today! There will be a variety of events and presentations, including a ribbon cutting for a new accessible ADU opening. Today there will be a presentation on "An Examination of Affordable Housing in Madison" at the AARP offices on West Washington and "Prejudice in Places" at Union South. I hope to see you all at some of the events!

Two Alder Community Engagement Events this Week! Join Alder John P. Guequierre from District 19 for a virtual public information meeting on Tuesday, October 21, to discuss how policy decisions can accelerate housing development in Madison and the Odana Road Corridor. Plan Commission

The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, October 20, at 5:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include development-related requests in Districts 4, 8, 12, 16, and 17.

Transportation Commission

The Transportation Commission meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 22, at 5:00 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include an annual review of Metro Transit’s Safety Plan.

Housing Policy Committee

The Housing Policy Committee meeting will take place on Thursday, October 23, at 4:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include a staff presentation and discussion regarding data for the 2025 Housing Snapshot Report.

Public Information Meetings (PIMs)

  • Public Input Meeting - Midtown Commons Park, Wednesday, October 22: Join us on Wednesday, October 22 at 6:00 PM for the second virtual public meeting for the Midtown Commons Park master planning process. Midtown Commons Park is expanding to include ~8.2 acres of additional park green space. During the meeting, Parks staff will share the results of the online survey and present a proposed master plan option based on the received community input.

  • When Plans Come Together: Transforming the Odana Rd Corridor, Tuesday, October 21: Join us for an informative session as we explore the series of actions that have transformed the Odana Rd corridor, which includes over 2,000 housing units that have already been built, are currently under construction, or are in the planning phase. We will also share updates on upcoming projects, community initiatives, and other relevant news.
  • District 17 Community Engagement Dinner, Friday, October 24: Join District 17 Alder Sabrina Madison, Sandburg Elementary leadership, and invited city staff for an update on projects across the district. There will be an opportunity to share your feedback and concerns about the district. Please register in advance.
