East District MPD Coffee With A Cop 4/30

From East District Resource Officer Laura Deloach:

“Hello!  We will have our monthly 'Coffee with a Cop', at the Pinney Public Library in Community Room B (516 Cottage Grove Rd. Madison, WI 53716). Coffee will be provided for those who join us! For this event and future Coffee with a Cop events we will be continuing our efforts of adjusting when we hold our event to allow for more flexibility across the community. My hope is by adjusting the time for our Coffee with a Cop event we can fit more individual's schedules. Our next coffee day is scheduled on Tuesday, April 30th from 11:00am-12:00pm. Please feel free to stop in at any time to participate. I am excited to speak with everyone and to get to know some community members. Parking is available in the rear of the library. As usual, we are excited about this opportunity and ask that you spread the word to anyone who might be interested in this community event.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at LDeloach@cityofmadison.com.”

Budget Engagement Event – Eastside, Wednesday, May 1

Attention all Eastsiders! The City is facing a significant budget shortfall this year that will impact services. What City services do you value the most? What is your vision for the future of Madison? You are invited to join Eastside alders for an in-person opportunity to discuss the budget, learn more about the services the City provides, and share your thoughts with elected officials. Please register in advance at this event link.

Open House: Park & Open Space Plan, Olbrich Gardens Atrium, Thursday May 2

The City of Madison Parks Division is updating its Park and Open Space Plan (POSP) and is seeking input from area residents on the plan! The purpose of the POSP is to guide and inform public parks policy and park facility decisions in the City of Madison. Parks, working with a consultant planning team led by MSA Professional Services, Inc., is hosting a series of open houses to introduce the project and gather input from attendees. This would be a good time to join and say "I think our parks should have more of xyz." The open houses will be held at various locations throughout the city in April and May and are considered “drop-in” sessions – feel free to attend for the entire time or just stop in for a short while to share your thoughts & ideas with staff.

  • When: Thursday, May 2nd from 5:30-7:30
  • Where: Olbrich Gardens Atrium, 3330 Atwood Ave

Garlic Mustard Pull at Heritage Sanctuary Conservation Park Saturday May 11th

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Garlic mustard is an aggressive invasive species threatening native plants including the outstanding spring trillium displays in east Madison's Heritage Sanctuary Conservation Park. A Madison Parks staff person will lead this off-trail project. Please bring a dandelion weeder, if possible, and wear garden gloves. Meet by the sanctuary sign at the south entrance (625 Meadowlark Drive) at 8:50 a.m. Email Beth at elsbethrich@gmail.com if you plan to volunteer.

From Madison Parks: At peak trillium bloom in early to mid-May, the 9.3 acre Heritage Sanctuary is unequaled. Under an oak forest canopy lies a wildflower carpet more typical of a maple forest.

Event details for the May 11th garlic mustard pull at Heritage Sanctuary.
Volunteers needed: Garlic mustard pull at Heritage Sanctuary from 9am to 11am. Those interested should email Beth at elsbethrich@gmail.com
