There is a lot going on! You should always feel free to send me additional announcements that I might not otherwise receive from other channels.
Meetings
- July 13, 6pm: Comprehensive Plan Interim Update – Zoom registration required. Staff will provide an overview of the Interim Update and answer questions.
- West Area Plan Public Meetings: Join one of these public meetings to see what we've heard thus far via surveys, interactive mapping, and previous public engagement, and to review and provide feedback on initial plan recommendations. All meetings will cover the same content.
Events
- Parks Alive: Parks Alive builds stronger neighborhoods and connects neighbors to their parks through fun, family-friendly activities, music and free food. Events are held in parks across the city and throughout the summer. Connect with your neighbors and engage with your community at a Parks Alive event near you!
- July 12, 5-8pm - Warner Park
- July 12, 5-8pm - Meadowood Park | Spider-Man: No Way Home
- July 13, 5-8pm - Penn Park
- July 12, 7pm - Concerts on the Square. The Capitol Square comes alive for six consecutive Wednesdays during the summer months with music from the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.
- July 12, 6-7:30pm - Conservation Park Tour | Cherokee Marsh South. Come and learn about efforts to maintain this habitat within the context of our modern landscape.
- July 12, 6-8pm - Learn to Fish with WI DNR – Vilas Park. Learn to Fish with Madison Parks and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources!
- July 12 and 19, 6:30-8pm: Sustain Dane and the Streets Division are teaming up to offer one last Recycle Better class in 2023.
- July 13, 12-5pm: Sunset Village Community Association blood drive – Sequoya Library
- July 13, 4-5pm: Madison Area Community Land Trust Orientation (Virtual). Madison Area Community Land Trust is hosting an orientation event and all are welcome to attend. Attendance at an MACLT orientation meeting is a requirement for home purchase within the land trust but all who are interested in land trust housing are welcome to attend.
- July 13, 7-8:15pm: Capitol City Band Concerts in the Park – Rennebohm Park. Bring a chair for listening comfort.
- July 13, 7-9pm: Concerts on the Rooftop: Unity the Band. Unity the Band was recently named Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s Artist of the Year!
- July 13-15: Black Film Festival, presented by Justified Anger
- July 13-16: Maxwell Street Days – State Street
- July 13-16: Fete de Marquette. Music, great local food and drink, and family activities! All proceeds benefit the WilMar Neighborhood Center.
- July 14: Free expungement clinic, sponsored by the Urban League.
- July 14, 5-7pm: Adaptive Family Swim Night | Goodman Pool. Join MSCR and Madison Parks for a FREE Adapted Family Swim Night! Zero-depth entry, aquatic lift, and water wheelchairs are available.
- July 14, 6-8pm: Live at The Glen: A Look Back in History with Tom Martinelli: Join us on the patio as we learn about the history of The Glen Golf Park with Tom Martinelli, a local historian and neighbor of The Glen. Martinelli will share his passion for the Westmorland neighborhood from prehistoric through the present.
- July 14, 6:30-8:30pm: Summer Nights at Segoe concert series. Enjoy dinner from Churros Blossoms and Thailand in a Truck, or cool off with a tasty treat from Kona Ice.
- July 14, 8-11pm: Mad Lit: Where Arts and Culture Shine: Mad Lit is a free, outdoor concert series featuring live music and highlighting local musicians, artists, and businesses owners of color at the top of State Street
- July 15, 10am-12pm: Inventive Printmaking – Monroe Street Library. Make monoprints through a variety of fun, surprising, and experimental methods. Participants will be able to layer different materials to make their own unique prints.
- July 15, 8:30-10:30pm: Movies with Madison Parks - The Mummy: Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy this FREE movie night in Lisa Link Peace Park!
- July 16, 4-7pm: Movie at the Glen | Back to the Future: Grab a blanket or bring a lawn chair and head over to The Glen for yard games and a movie!
- July 22, 1-5pm: Urban League Unity Picnic – Urban League of Greater Madison, 2222 S. Park St. Celebrate in unity with our community at this free, family-friendly event. Enjoy a variety of delicious food, live music, and fun activities!
- July 25, August 1, August 9, August 15, 6-8pm: Urban League Financial Literacy Speaker Series
- July 27-28: Madison Disability Summit, online. The City of Madison Disability Summit: Collective Visioning for a More Equitable Future is a platform for visioning and developing a city-wide agenda that will direct the work of the Department of Civil Rights – Division of Equity and Social Justice, Disability Rights and Services Program and ensure all City programs include the voices and needs of the disability community.
- July 29, 12-5pm: Disability Pride Festival – Warner Park.
- August 2, 3-5pm: Fair housing training seminar for owners and managers of rental properties, or staff operating shelters or residential programs - Madison Public Library Alicia Ashman Branch, 733 N. High Point Rd. The seminar will include information about the protected classes and prohibited practices delineated by local, state and federal fair housing laws, as well as reasonable accommodations and modifications for tenants with disabilities.

- City Asks For Volunteers to Help with Spongy Moth Outbreak - The City of Madison Engineering Division welcomes volunteers to help with protecting oak trees on City property, which are showing signs of spongy moth activity and stress.

- 2023 Early Childhood Funding RFP: The Community Development Division (CDD) of the City of Madison seeks to create a foundation for Madison residents to readily access high-quality early care and learning environments, for child care providers to have the training to support the physical and emotional development of young children, and for children to have access to culturally responsive providers. The City is therefore seeking proposals to provide programming and services to the early childhood care and education community and workforce.
