Winter Response Update: 12/5/2025

posted

Bottom Line

Chance for freezing rain with snow may make travel tonight slippery and difficult. Streets Division plows will be out on the main routes. Be ready for slick roads and slippery sidewalks tonight.

Details

The Streets Division will deploy 32 trucks to the salt routes. Crews will be on these routes through the evening rush hour and into the night.

Forecasts are calling for a chance of light snow and freezing rain from the late afternoon up until close to midnight.

Streets Division plows will be out on their routes salting and plowing these roads as needed for the duration of the storm.

Should the storm arrive as predicted and deliver a mix of light snow plus freezing rain, travel this afternoon into the evening could become tricky throughout Madison. Sidewalks and paths could develop a thin layer of ice. Residential areas that are not salted could also, potentially, become slippery with that light coating of snow and ice.

If you need to be on the roads this evening, be ready for the possibility for slippery, icy conditions tonight and make good choices. Stay alert and stay slow.

Streets Division staff will be monitoring the roads at the weather.  Operations will adjust as conditions require.
