Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020, until further notice, the Madison Municipal Court counter service is closed to the public. You may still contact the court via telephone, email, fax and by mail. Payments can be made via mail or online at the City's ePayment center.

Any hearings scheduled through April 30, 2020 are being rescheduled. There is no need to contact the court for this. We will mail a notice of the new hearing date.

Welcome to the City of Madison Municipal Court

The City of Madison Municipal Court represents the judicial branch of government and provides a neutral setting for resolving alleged City ordinance violations. We provide friendly and efficient service to all court users, keeping in mind legal and ethical requirements.

The Municipal Court provides a neutral forum for hearing City Ordinance cases, where the penalty includes a forfeiture. The court handles approximately 26,000 cases per year. These are not criminal charges and defendants are not entitled to a free lawyer.
