The latest update to the City's Housing Tracker shows more housing was built in the last nine months than in all of 2025. More than 2,400 new homes, of all types, have been added to the housing landscape this year. This is great news for our growing city.

Message from the Mayor

A metal absentee ballot drop box that is styled like the City of Madison flag

With the November general election only a few weeks away, it's time to make a voting plan that works best for you. There are multiple ways for you to have your voice heard at the ballot box, and every eligible voter should make sure to participate.

In-Person Absentee Voting

In-Person Absentee Voting (early voting) starts next Tuesday, October 20, at multiple locations across Madison. We are anticipating significant interest in early voting, which could lead to high volumes at certain sites and times. The Clerk's Office is dedicating more staff to ensure wait times are kept to a minimum.

In-Person Absentee Hours & Locations

Absentee Voting

If you haven't done so already, request your absentee ballot right away. Please make sure to follow the instructions carefully. You will need a witness to sign and print their name and address on the ballot envelope.

With Election Day nearing, the Clerk's Office strongly recommends returning your completed absentee ballot at one of the City's 14 ballot drop boxes. This is a secure and convenient way to ensure your absentee ballot is returned quickly to the Clerk's Office.

You can also return your completed absentee ballot at any of the In-Person Absentee sites or at your polling place on Election Day. After returning your completed absentee ballot, make sure to confirm it made it to the Clerk's Office with the My Vote Wisconsin website.

No matter how you plan to vote, it's really important that you engage in the democratic process. Go vote!
