Construction, Demolition, and Remodeling Recycling Requirement
In accordance with city ordinance 10.185, many construction, remodeling, and demolition projects require recycling of the waste it generates. This ordinance has been in place ins January 2010.
Projects That Require Recycling
New Construction
New construction projects that use concrete and steel support must recycle 70% or their construction debris by weight. New construction projects that use wood framing must recycle the following materials:
- Clean Wood
- Clean Drywall
- Shingles
- Corrugated Cardboard
- Metal
Remodeling Projects
Remodeling projects with a value in excess of $20,000 must recycle the following materials:
- Clean Wood
- Clean Drywall
- Shingles
- Corrugated Cardboard
- Metal
Demolitions
If you are seeking demolition permit, you must submit a reuse and recycling plan to the Recycling Coordinator, and have your plan approved.
