Fees & Stickers

There is a recycling fee for some items. You must buy a fee sticker for these items using the work order system.

Buy a Fee Sticker

We will mail you a recycling fee sticker after you fill out the work order. The item must have the sticker before we can accept it at a drop-off site.

You can also buy fee stickers in person at either the Streets East or Streets West offices during office hours. Office hours are different than drop-off site hours.

Stickers are not available to buy from the attendants at the drop-off sites.

Rules & Restrictions

Streets Division staff cannot provide unloading assistance.

Residents & Property Owners Only

Sites can only be used by City of Madison residents and property owners.

Proof of residency or property ownership is required to use the drop-off sites.

Contractors are not allowed to use the drop-off sites.

Entry Rules

  • A limited number vehicles is allowed into the unloading area of the drop-off sites at a time. This will help with safety and traffic flow through the site.
  • Residents should anticipate lines and wait times before being able to unload their vehicle.
  • When the sites are closed, no one may enter to drop off material.
  • If you are waiting in line to enter the facility when the sites close, you will not be allowed to enter and unload material. You will need to return another day.
  • During days when the lines to enter the facility are long, some vehicles may be turned away earlier than posted closing time because they will not be able to enter and unload before closing.

Volume Limits

Residents and property owners can bring the equivalent of one pick-up or small trailer load of material each day (about 5' x 8'). This load limit applies to all material accepted at the drop-off site

Please note that our curbside limit of 4 95-gallon carts or their equivalent per week applies to the drop off sites as well.

Customers with large volumes of material to dispose of may want to consider hauling it to the Dane County Landfill, or spacing out your trips to visit the site on multiple days.

For large volumes of brush, check the Brush Processing Center information.
