Parking Permits

Residents and commuters and visitors can obtain parking permits for their vehicles in a variety of off-street City operated facilities.

  • Monthly Parking Permit

A monthly parking permit guarantees parking availability for the permit holder in the garage or lot, even if the lot is "full".  There are no assigned parking stalls, permit holders should park in any legal stall in the lot or garage.

  • Annual Motorcycle & Moped Permit

For motorcycle and moped owners, we offer an annual permit, making it easier to park in selected locations without the need to renew frequently.

Special Event Rates

During special events in Madison, rates in City-operated parking garages and lots may take on a temporary Special Event Rate. Please check our website for the latest updates on pricing and availability.

Parking Meters

Parking meters are intended for short-term parking. The purpose of time limits on parking meters is to ensure that parking spaces regularly become available for customers of area businesses and visitors to the area.

In addition to making payments directly at the meter using Visa, MasterCard or coin; additional payment options are available for convenience and ease.

  • Park Smarter™ Mobile App

This pay-by-cell application provides an additional, convenient, contact-less payment option for smart phone users at all city-maintained IPS meters and pay stations.

Download the Park Smarter™ mobile app to easily pay meters while managing your account and parking needs from your device.

  • Text-to-Pay™

Text-to-Pay™ customers will text a zone number listed on the meter, input their space number, choose the desired time, and make their payment instantly. This option provides the convenience of paying remotely without having to download another app.

Park and Walk

Ten-hour limit parking spaces have been installed to serve as Park and Walk areas and provide a less expensive alternative for long-term parkers. These spaces differ in both price and time limit from other metered and zoned parking.

Parking in Winter

The City follows alternate side parking November 15 – March 15.

Alternate side parking requires you to park on a specific side of the street overnight based on the date. This helps us plow the streets.
