Snow Plowing Updates: CITYWIDE PLOWING TONIGHT

February 4, 2021 4:36 PM

All city streets will be plowed tonight. Operations will begin later this evening once the storm is at or near its end. Choose off street parking options for your vehicles tonight if possible. Use caution if you choose to travel through the city today and tonight. A snow emergency has not been declared.

As the storm continues this afternoon, Streets Division plow trucks will continue circling through the salt routes.  Crews will remain on these salt routes through the afternoon and evening rush hour. Crews will be plowing and salting these streets as necessary.
Travel will be difficult through the rest of the day and through the night. Roads will be slippery and snow-covered. Please make good choices if you must be on the roads. Allow for ample travel time. Be slow. Be patient. Be alert.
Once the citywide plowing operations get underway tonight, crews from the Streets Division, Engineering, Parks, and heavy equipment contractors will be out pushing the snow back to the curb.
The fewer obstructions in the roadways, the faster plowing operations can push back snow from neighborhood streets. Please choose off-street parking options tonight. Follow all posted parking signs. Avoid placing trash and recycling containers into the street gutter for collection. And remember to follow alternate side parking rules at night if applicable in your neighborhood.
Temperatures will fall later tonight, and that may hinder salt's effectiveness on our main thoroughfares, which could lead to some snowy or slippery areas on the main roads. Residential streets will be snow-covered even after they are plowed since they not salted. Plan for a slow and slippery Friday morning commute.
Also, be prepared to shovel out driveway aprons, crosswalk ramps, fire hydrants, and other areas following this evening's plowing operation. This is a wet, dense snow so take care when clearing as it will be heavy.
Streets Division staff will continue to monitor the roads and the weather. Future updates will be provided as operations change.
