Boards, Commissions, and Committee Meetings

  • Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 19, in hybrid format at 6:30 p.m. Agenda items include allowing Accessory Dwelling Units for properties with up to eight dwelling units and removing owner-occupancy requirement for ADUs, combining the City-County Homeless Issues Committee, Landlord and Tenant Issues Committee, and Housing Strategy Committees, as well as honoring and celebrating the 50 years of service of JustDane.
  • Board of Public Works: The Board of Public Works meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 20, in virtual format at 4:30 p.m. Agenda items include authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an agreement with Dane County to allow the City to perform bi-annual bridge inspections of local highway and pedestrian bridges within its jurisdiction, setting the 2024 rates for the Sewer Utility and Stormwater Utility, and the approval of a number of bids opened by the City Engineer.
  • Landlord and Tenant Issues Committee: The Landlord and Tenant Issues Committee meeting will take place on Thursday, March 21, in virtual format at 5:00 p.m. Agenda items include a memorandum on proposed landlord-tenant ordinances, as well as combining the City-County Homeless Issues Committee, Landlord and Tenant Issues Committee, and Housing Strategy Committee.

 

Public Information Meetings & Sessions

  • Tancho Bike Path Public Information Meeting, Monday, March 18 (VIRTUAL): The project is the creation of a bike path connecting Tancho Drive and the Underpass 151. The new bike path would connect via the south side of the Northeast Park. A public information meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., March 18, 2024. Registration prior is required.
  • Draft West Area Plan - Proactive Rezoning, Monday, March 18 (VIRTUAL)The draft West Area Plan actions and maps are now available on the City's webpage until March 20th for public review and feedback! The draft includes proposed proactive rezoning for some areas. Planning Division staff will host a VIRTUAL public meeting for property owners in these areas to explain what proactive rezoning is and answer questions. Property owners will receive a postcard inviting them to this meeting. The March 18 meeting will only be held VIRTUALLY. Online registration is required and you will receive a link after completing this step.   • In-Person Absentee Voting Begins, Tuesday, March 19Absentee voting sites begin opening today. Check our In-Person Absentee Voting website for locations and hours. 
  • District 19 Sidewalk Repairs, Wednesday, March 20 (VIRTUAL): The Annual Sidewalk Replacement Program was created to identify and repair defects (cracks, broken sections, offsets creating trip hazards, ponding/icing issues) throughout the City, rotating through the alder districts on a 10-year cycle. A public information meeting is scheduled for District 19 Sidewalk Repairs for 5:30 p.m., March 20, 2024, via Zoom. Registration prior is required. 
  • Doncaster Beverly Danbury Reconstruction, Thursday, March 21 (VIRTUAL)Doncaster Drive, Beverly Road, and Danbury Street are being reconstructed with new curb & gutter and sidewalk. Parking will be allowed on one side only. The terrace (between the sidewalk and street) will be 2.5 ft. The options in Exhibit A have been developed to reflect three competing priorities: pedestrian safety and convenience, maintenance of existing trees, and proper street width. The project design phase is in progress. A public information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., March 21, 2024, via Zoom. Registration is required prior.

  • Yoga Core, Tuesday, March 19Yoga Core is a great class to help build strength and body awareness. This class incorporates a wide variety of seated, standing, balancing, and mat-based yoga poses focusing on strength, stability, and mobility. Core-based practices can help enhance balance and stability and prevent falls and injuries as we age. All levels are welcome. Participants will need to be able to get up and down off the floor. Chairs or walls may be used for balance assistance.
  • Empower your financial journey, Wednesday, March 20: Join Madison Area Community Land Trust (MACLT) for an empowering session that covers both credit-building strategies and effective budgeting techniques presented by Sara Whitley from Johnson Financial Group.
  • Assistive Technology in the Workplace, Thursday, March 21 (VIRTUAL)Hosted by the City of Madison Disability Resource Group, an affinity group of staff with disabilities, and the Department of Civil Rights.  This event will include a hybrid meeting with a panel.  In-person attendees will have an opportunity to try Assistive Technology devices following the panel.
  • Meditation At Monona Terrace, Thursday, March 21 (VIRTUAL): Life can be stressful, meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace, and balance that benefits both your emotional well-being and your overall health. All experience levels and drop-ins welcome. 
  • Westside Community Connections - March 2024, Thursday, March 21 (VIRTUAL)Please join Alder Wehelie, Alder Duncan, and Alder Harrington-McKinney as they host Matthew Mikolajewski and Saran Ouk from the Economic Development Division, and Kirsten Donkle of the Department of Civil Rights, who will talk about resources and programs available for businesses in our community. There will be time for a Q&A at the end of the presentations. 
  • Madison Poet Laureate Debut Gala, Thursday, March 21 (IN-PERSON)The new Madison poet Laureate, Steven Dawson, will be giving a poetry reading along with the 2020-2024 Madison Poet Laureate, Angie Trudell Vasquez, and the 2022-23 Ronald Wallace Poetry Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing, Chessy Normile. The reading will be 30 – 45 minutes, followed by a short Q+A segment and informal reception. 
  • Lakeside Dance Lab: Salsa, Friday, March 22: Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of Latin dancing through Salsa! We’ll cover everything from musical recognition, basic steps, posture, turns, and even put together a little choreography to cap off our workshop! FREE ticket required for admission.
