Special Meeting of the Plan Commission

The Plan Commission will be receiving a presentation from City Planning Division staff on a potential new framework for land use/ sub-area plans at its meeting on Thursday.

  • Upcoming, public-facing COVID-19 mobile vaccine clinics, as organized by Public Health Madison & Dane County:
    • Friday, July 2: Stoughton Fair, 3pm-7pm
    • Saturday, July 3: Stoughton Fair, 12pm-4pm
    • Wednesday, July 7: Middleton Outreach Ministries, 10am-1pm
    • Wednesday, July 7: Catholic Multicultural Center, 5pm-7pm
    • Thursday, July 8: Catholic Multicultural Center, 5pm-7pm
    • Thursday, July 8: Hwy 30 and Reindahl encampments

  • Mad Lit is a new series of free outdoor events happening this summer on the 100 block of State Street. These events, featuring diverse artists, will take place on every other Friday evening from 8pm to 11pm and are open to all ages. Mad Lit will run from July 2 through October 8.  See the full calendar of events here.
  • Artists Beyond Boundaries call for art is still open! From June 1 through August 31, Access to Independence is inviting artists with disabilities of all skill levels to submit up to two works of art for a chance to win one of thirteen $200 awards and have their artwork featured in the 2022 Artists Beyond Boundaries calendar.  Learn more about the event here, and find the artist entry form here.

Announcements, press releases, press conferences, etc.

  • There will be no refuse, recycling, brush, or large item collection on Monday, July 5, 2021 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The Streets Division drop-off sites will also be closed.  Read more here.
  • On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Madison residents can once again purchase recycling fee stickers and make other in-person transactions at the Streets Division offices.  Read more here.
  • City of Madison Transportation office are reopening to the public on Tuesday, July 6.  Read more here.
  • Madison Water Utility is set to restore limited in-person services at the Water Utility Administrative Offices, located at 119 E. Olin Avenue, beginning Tuesday, July 6.  Read more here.
  • This summer, The Bubbler at Madison Public Library is launching a new artist-in-residence program called the Bubbler Artist Cohort. Six diverse teaching artists will work together to create community connections and creative opportunities around a single theme. As part of a larger initiative by Madison Public Library called YOU(th) Belong, the Cohort plans to collaborate over the course of six months to explore the spectrum of "Belonging" with youth (8 - 18 years old).  Learn more here.

Save the Date

  • On Wednesday, July 21, Metro staff will hold a virtual public meeting at 6 p.m. to introduce and discuss ideas for improving how fares are collected on Metro buses.  Metro is looking at replacing its current system of magnetic stripe card passes with smart tap cards, mobile phone payments, online account payments and fare purchase kiosks located at transfer points and bus rapid transit stations.  Complete information here.  Register to receive Zoom link.
