UPDATE: Hayes Rd Development - Wiseman Capital Group (converting the Super 8 Hotel to multi-family housing)
About: Wiseman Capital Group proposes to convert the 135-room Super 8 Hotel at 4765 Hayes Road to approximately 132 units of multifamily housing. No demolition of existing structures would take place. The hotel is currently a commercial use and transitioning it to a multi-family use of this size in the current zoning district will require conditional use approval.
What's next? The application for 4757 Hayes Rd has been accepted and will be on the August 28th Plan Commission agenda. Plan Commission is the approving body for the application so this item does not go to Common Council. The application will now be sent out for review to city agencies. Planning staff will begin working on the staff report which will include a staff recommendation and conditions of approval from city agencies. A hearing notice will be sent out to residents within 200 feet of the property 10 days before the August 28th meeting.

Olin Avenue Drop-off Site & Brush Processing Facility Closed to Public July 27-29, 2023
The Streets Division facility at 121 E. Olin Avenue will be completely closed to the public July 27 through July 29, 2023.During these three days, you will not be able to use the drop-off site, pick up mulch, or deliver large loads of brush for processing.
The event is expected to generate a significant amount of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area.
In order to increase safety and minimize congestion in the neighborhood, the Streets Division’s Olin Avenue site will be closed to the public during these three days.
When will the Olin Avenue facility open to the public again?
On drop-off operations will resume on Sunday, July 30, 2023 during the normal posted hours.
The brush processing operations will resume on Monday, July 31, 2023 during the normal posted hours for these operations.

- Street Use Staff Commission: The Street Use Staff Commission meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2023 in virtual format at 10:00 AM. Agenda items include the consideration, discussion, and vote of street use permits for events such as Africa Fest, apartment move-ins, Rockin’ Brews Marathon, the UW Madison homecoming parade, and more!
- Vending Oversight Committee: The Vending Oversight Committee meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in virtual format at 5:00 PM. Agenda items include directing staff to take the steps necessary to conduct an experimental closure of the 400-600 blocks of State Street, a review of 2023 fall food carts, and more!

· Public Input Meeting - Country Grove Park, Thursday, July 27, 2023: Country Grove Park is getting a park shelter building and we want to hear from you! The shelter building will include restrooms, a covered picnic area, and small parking lot.The community is invited to provide input on the design of the shelter, parking lot, basketball and futsal courts.

· Dane County Farmers' Market - Wednesday Market, Wednesday, July 26, 2023: The Wednesday Dane County Farmers’ Market is located on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in between the Madison Municipal Building and the City County Building. While more intimate than the Saturday Market, you will still find many of your favorite Dane County Farmers’ Market members, as well as a full array of fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, bakery items, cut flowers, plants, and many specialty items.

· Learn to Fish with WI DNR, Wednesday, July 26, 2023: Learn to Fish with Madison Parks and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources! There is no cost to attend (advanced registration is required), however, anglers ages 16 and older will need a Wisconsin fishing license, which can be purchased online at Go Wild . For first-time license buyers, the cost is just $5 for an annual permit. See license options . Wisconsin DNR's Fishmobile will be onsite with all the fishing equipment needed to participate. This event is open to adults and children and is ideal for persons aged 7 years and older. Children must be supervised by a parent or adult guardian. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver for themselves and their children, upon arrival.
· All-City Swim Meet, Thursday, July 27, 2023: Watch the Goodman Waves Swim Team compete at the All-City Swim Meet at the Goodman Pool! Spectators are welcome! The All-City Swim Meet is a three-day event hosting more than 2,000 swimmers and 6,000 spectators and is one of the nation’s largest outdoor amateur swim meets. Each area pool in the Madison area league hosts the Meet once every 13 years, and this is Goodman Pool's first time hosting.

Food carts are scheduled at a variety of parks and community events through the summer. Many of the food carts accept credit for payment, but not all. Please plan accordingly. The exact food cart(s) and the schedule are subject to change. Weather may impact or cancel vending activities.
· Mad Lit: Where Arts and Culture Shine, Friday, July 28, 2023: Mad Lit is a free, outdoor concert series featuring live music and highlighting local musicians, artists, and businesses owners of color. The series runs every other Friday from June through September from 8-11pm at the top of State Street in Madison and includes live music, dance, pop-up shops, and visual exhibits.
· Night Moth Walk, Friday, July 28, 2023: Join naturalist Jeff Steele on this new night walk to see and learn about moths and other night-flying insects. We'll walk to different viewing spots to view insects under ultraviolet light. Be prepared for mosquitoes. A flashlight may be helpful for walking. · Street Closure--Kinsman Blvd: Kinsman Blvd will be fully closed on the east side of N Stoughton Road for concrete paving from 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 24 until 7:00 a.m. Monday, July 31.
· Dane Dances Announces "A Season of Togetherness": Dane Dances is enthusiastically kicking off its 24th season, "A Season of Togetherness," on Friday, August 4 from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. New this year they'll engage the audience with DJ Francis Medrano and free dance lessons starting at 5:30 pm each week
