Metro Transit Redesign

Metro has released a draft Transit Network Redesign Plan, which is a proposed complete restructuring of service in 2023. This draft plan is designed toward a ridership goal. The plan focuses on fewer routes that are more direct and frequent, while providing coverage where it is needed most.

On Wednesday, April 13 at 6pm, Metro will hold a special neighborhood meeting for District 19 to discuss the changes and receive feedback via Zoom. Registration is required. [Zoom link]

Madison Police Department Strategic Plan

Madison Police Department is seeking community input on policing and will host focus groups as part of strategic plan. Each one of MPD's six patrol districts will host a meeting. The meeting will cover broad themes on topics such as community trust, the role of police, community policing, crime and safety, and police staffing. Details about the meetings, including registration information, can be found here.

Lake Mendota Drive

This week, the Lake Mendota Drive reconstruction project's roadway geometry resolution will be in front of the Transportation Commission (TC) on Wednesday. Last week, the Board of Public Works approved the geometry with a note asking TC to consider putting sidewalks on just one side of the street, and not on both in a portion of the project as the design proposes.

Craig St.

The contractor for this project, Speedway Sand & Gravel, Inc. has elected to perform the proposed work on Craig Ave. in 2023. Originally, the City planned for all the work on Old Middleton Rd. and Craig Ave. to happen in 2022. Due to the size of the project, the City has agreed to allow the contractor to do the work on Craig Ave. in 2023. Currently, the contractor plans to do minor work this year on Craig Ave. but this work does not include replacement of pavement, curb, sidewalk, or underground utilities. In the case that the anticipated schedule changes, residents along Craig Ave. will be informed by mail and updates will be posted on the project page

The resurfacing project for Old Middleton Rd is still scheduled to start on Monday, April 18th. The project will be completed by October 2022. You can learn more about the impact on the project page.
