**Metro’s complete route redesign is coming up fast on Sunday, June 11, 2023**

New Stops

Look for bus stops signs to be updated next week with new lettered routes. There are a number of bus stop locations that will remain the same, but receive an updated bus stop sign. Those signs will keep the same bus ID number. That ID number can be used to plan both old and new trips. It can also continue to be used when contacting Metro’s call center with specific bus stop questions.

Transfer Points

Metro’s North, East, and West transfer points will close on Sunday, June 11. The North Transfer Point park and ride will also close with the start of new service. A complete list of available park and rides are available at mymetrobus.com/parkandride.

Look for Ride Guides Out on the Street!

Metro staff are now visiting transfer points, stop locations and out riding buses to answer questions and help plan trips. Look for Ride Guides in bright yellow vests. Ride Guides will be out on the street first thing on June 11 to help passengers get where they need to go on Metro’s newly designed routes.

Starting Thursday, June 8, representatives will be available from 5:30 am until 10:00 pm. Extended hours are expected to last through Friday, June 24 or as call volumes warrant.

· WisDOT Madison Beltline Study – Public meetings scheduled to review Madison Beltline Study Draft Strategy Packages, Tuesday, June 6, 2023: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region is hosting two public involvement meetings for the Madison Beltline Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) Study. The meetings will provide an update on the status of the study and gather input.

· East Side Farmers' Market, Tuesday, June 6, 2023: The Eastside Farmers' Market is Madison Wisconsin’s finest weekday farmers' market. Our goal is to bring the freshest Wisconsin grown food direct to the heart of the East side. Our vendor members are agricultural producers and food artisans who make value added products from Wisconsin's agricultural bounty.

· Dane County Farmers' Market - Wednesday Market, Wednesday, June 7, 2023: The Wednesday Dane County Farmers’ Market is located on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in between the Madison Municipal Building and the City County Building. While more intimate than the Saturday Market, you will still find many of your favorite Dane County Farmers’ Market members, as well as a full array of fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, bakery items, cut flowers, plants, and many specialty items.

· Sticker's Pond Volunteer Day, Saturday, June 10, 2023: Madison Parks is seeking volunteers in conservation to assist in removing invasive plants in Sticker's Pond Conservation Park. Participants will learn plant identification, conservation methods, ecological restoration efforts and methods, as well as park history.

· SummerPalooza, Saturday, June 10, 2023: SummerPalooza includes free museum admission along with exciting activities and live entertainment just off the Capitol Square.

· Marquette Waterfront Festival, Saturday, June 10, 2023: Marquette Waterfront Festival kicks off the summer on the eastside with two stages featuring some of the very best local bands and national touring acts, along with vendors from favorite local restaurants, craft beer and wine, kids' games, and craft vendors and the Fools' Flotilla.

· Bird & Nature Adventures – Owen, Saturday, June 10, 2023: Walk in the Woods ~ Explore Owen Conservation Park on gentle trails through historic oak openings on a hillside with an Ice Age kettle and along restored prairies with beautiful vistas on this high point overlooking the west side of Madison. Co-sponsored by Madison Parks, Madison Audubon Society, and the Friends of Owen Conservation Park . Free, family-friendly guided nature walks at Owen Conservation Park are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, year-round 2:30-4pm. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.

· Marquette Waterfront Festival, Sunday, June 11, 2023: Marquette Waterfront Festival kicks off the summer on the eastside with two stages featuring some of the very best local bands and national touring acts, along with vendors from favorite local restaurants, craft beer and wine, kids' games, and craft vendors and the Fools' Flotilla.

· Third-party service to help MPD with emergency detention transportation: MADISON, Wis. – Starting in June, the Madison Police Department will use a third-party service for emergency detention transports to Winnebago Mental Health Facility.

· D18 Metro Transit Redesign Public Information Meeting: Madison, WI – June 1, 2023 - The Metro Transit Network Redesign will go into effect Sunday, June 11, 2023. This includes completely NEW Metro routes, maps, schedules and transfer points will close.

· City of Madison Recognizes National Homeownership Month: The City of Madison is recognizing National Homeownership Month by encouraging Madison residents to explore incentives that can lead to homeownership.

· Free Fun Weekend in Madison Parks: Enjoy permit-free days in Madison's parks, Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4, 2023. No permit is required to try out a disc golf course, bring your dog to a park or access the lakes.

· Madison Public Library’s We Read Program Returns with Activities for Kids and Families Throughout the Summer: MADISON, WI -- Madison Public Library’s summer We Read campaign is inspiring youth to keep reading and invites families to participate in fun, free library programs taking place in libraries, in parks, and around Madison all summer.

· “Wear Orange” Rally Unites Community in Fight against Gun Violence: On Friday, June 2, Public Health Madison & Dane County is hosting a Wear Orange rally raising awareness about the urgent need to end gun violence.

· Madison Water Utility's 2022 Annual Report is Available: Madison Water Utility's 2022 Annual Report is now available! This reporting period covers calendar year 2022, including audited 2022 financial statements, 2022 water quality monitoring, and 2022 projects, events, operations, and accomplishments.

Streets Division Updates

With warmer weather comes an increase in large item pickup. Here’s a review of how large item pickup works now.

· You have to submit a work order to get on the pickup schedule. Work orders can filled out at www.cityofmadison.com/LargeItemWorkOrder

· Put the items out on the set-out Sunday you chose on the work order. Do not set them out early – crews will not arrive before your set-out date.

· Collection of large items occurs sometime during the work week following the set-out Sunday you choose. It could be as early as 6:30am on Monday, so get the items out anytime on the Sunday you selected.

· What about that neighbor with a pile of stuff out for a long time? You have two options if speaking with the neighbor is not possible:

· Contact Building Inspection at 608-266-4551. Building Inspection is the code enforcement agency. They can see if a property has a work order or not. They can require property owners to get a work order, and fine those who choose not to follow their guidance.

· Create a work order for your neighbor. While this means your neighbor may not learn about the work order system, it does guarantee that they would be on the schedule for pickup.

· Large items can also be taken to a drop-off site. Drop-off sites are different, so check the drop-off page before loading your car.

· Some items have fees that must be paid before dropping them off. More about the fees can be found on the Streets large item website.
