Grant Restrictions
Matching Dollars: MAC grants cannot be more than half (50%) of the total project cost. Grants also require 25% of the funding be cash from non-City sources. The remaining project budget can be cash or in-kind contributions.

In-kind Contributions: donations of goods or services, such as labor, facilities, materials, or equipment.
Allowable Expenses: artist fees, required royalties, production expenses, space rental, marketing costs, expendable materials, required insurance, etc.
Unallowable Expenses: prizes or awards, tuition, expenses not related to the project, permanent equipment, travel outside the City of Madison, food and drinks or repaying debts.
Labor as Expense: Individual artists may list all or part of their time as a project expense. List any hours you are not requesting funding for as an in-kind contribution.
Date of Expenses: We will not pay for any hours worked, or expenses incurred, before the contract is signed by the City.
