Snow Plowing Update: December 29, 2025
Bottom Line
The Streets Division’s response to the snowstorm will continue all day Monday on through the evening hours. High winds and very cold temperatures may cause slick spots on your travels. Remain cautious and slow.
Details
While the snow was falling, the main thoroughfares maintained by the Streets Division were salted and plowed.
Crews are continuing this clean-up work by plowing off the snow.
Pavement temperatures are cold, but as of the publication of this update, they are still above the threshold where salt is effective.
With the sun, the previously applied salt, traffic, and plowing, the main thoroughfares should continue to improve through the afternoon.
However, with high winds expected to last through the night, some areas may become snow-covered again due to blowing or drifting snow.
Temperatures are also expected to fall throughout the evening and eventually drop below the point where salt is effective at our maximum application rate.
Streets Division plows will be out with sand all day and night to address any drifting issues that may arise. They will also apply sand to the hills, curves, and intersections that need additional traction in the residential areas around Madison.
On your travel, please continue to make good choices and stay alert. Be prepared for slippery areas, so stay slow and minimize your distractions. Remember to give yourself plenty of travel time to arrive at your destinations safely.
Streets Division staff will continue to monitor the roads at the weather. Operations will adjust as conditions require.
