Snow Plowing Update: December 31, 2025

posted

Bottom Line

Another round of light snow will trouble your travels this afternoon. Streets Division crews have been dispatched in response. Be mindful of conditions as you proceed with your New Year’s Eve plans.

What’s the weather doing?

According to forecasts, light snow is expected to arrive this afternoon and eventually tapering off in the early evening.

We should receive less than an inch of snow if it arrives as predicted.

Also, temperatures will be around 30 degrees during the afternoon and then they will drop through the evening. During the overnight hours, single digit temperatures are possible.

Streets Division’s Response

Crews will be dispatched to the main thoroughfares to plow and salt them as needed during the snowstorm.

Crews will be on these routes through the storm.

Traveling Today

Make good choices if you elect to be out and about today.

Plows will be out in response to the storm, as is the standard for snow events. And during snowstorms, encountering snowy and slippery areas should be something we all expect. Remember to give yourself plenty of extra travel time and be slow, patient, and safe.

We will also see warmer pavement temperatures today before the frigid cold arrives tonight. Thanks to a brief spell of above freezing pavement temps, we may see some loosening (or melting) of the hardpacked snow in the unsalted low traffic, low speed residential areas.  This “fluffing” could make things a slippery for a bit, and then a little bumpy when it freezes again when the temperatures plummet this evening. So once again, stay alert and remain slow on your travels.

In Conclusion

Streets Division staff will be monitoring the roads and the weather. Operations will pivot to either take advantage of or respond to whatever the weather throws our way today.
