Public Sidewalk Snow Clearing Update
Good morning,
A total of 11.1 inches of snow began falling on Thursday evening at approximately 8:00 p.m. and concluded early today, Sunday, January 18, 2026. All snow accumulated must be cleared from public sidewalks by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Please be reminded that public sidewalks, including curb ramps where applicable, must be kept free of snow and ice regardless of the source of accumulation. If ice cannot be fully removed, sand or another approved traction material must be applied.
Forecast indicates below-zero wind chill temperatures for today until tomorrow. Residents are encouraged to take appropriate safety precautions while clearing sidewalks and, when possible, assist neighbors who may be unable to do so. Prompt compliance is essential to maintaining safe and accessible public sidewalks for the community.
Free sand for residents is available at several locations around Madison to keep sidewalks safe.
