Snow Plowing Update: January 9, 2026
Bottom Line
Snow is forecast to return overnight, and plows will be out. Be careful on your Saturday travel as the roads may be slippery
What’s the weather doing?
Forecasts call for wintry precipitation to return during the overnight hours tonight.
Light snow that may continue through the day on Saturday before tapering off sometime in the evening.
By the storm’s end, we are expected to receive somewhere around one inch of snow total.
Streets Division’s Response
Streets Division plows will be dispatched to the salt routes starting late tonight. And plows will be on these main throughfares plowing and salting as needed for the duration of the snow event.
What You Should Expect
Be prepared for slippery roadways, and please remember to make good choices. Be ready for slower travel, so give yourself extra time to get to your destinations. Anticipate your stops and turns. Remain slow, patient, and alert.
With the warmer temperatures we’ve all enjoyed, some of the snow will melt when it hits the roads. Also, the pavement temperature is expected to rise through the day on Saturday.
The air temperatures still being relatively warm, it could produce a wetter, denser snowfall.
When you have wet snow falling and melting on the pavement, and fresh snow falling on top of that, you could get some slippery, greasy areas with this combination of factors.
Monitoring Conditions
Streets Division staff will continue to monitor the roads and the weather. Operations will adjust as weather and conditions require.
What about leaves?
From January 7 to January 9, Streets Division crews have been making an attempt to pickup to leaves from neighborhoods that had a November 30 set out date. There are details on the yard waste website. We recommend you sign up to receive email updates regarding the leaf and yard waste schedule, too.
