Prevention Tip of the Week

August 5, 2016 1:58 PM

The Madison Police Department and Madison Area Crime Stoppers need your help in identifying suspects with suspicious behavior.

With an increase in burglaries city-wide, the Madison Police Department needs your help reporting suspicious activity.

A technique used last week was the knock and go.  In this technique the suspects go door-to-door.  If someone answers the door they report to be with a non-profit organization and then ask for donations.

They had no visible identification and no organizational information.

If no one answers the door the suspects go to the back yard.

In last week's case the witness reports seeing the suspects go to the back yard when no one answered the front door.  No entry was made to the potential victim's home.

In the city of Madison, solicitors need to complete permit requirements under Madison General Ordinance 9.14.

If you have any information on these suspects or information on this case please contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014 or on the web at www.TipSubmit.com

Individuals contacting Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
