Crime Prevention Tip of the Week

October 11, 2016 1:41 PM

The Madison Police Department and Madison Area Crime Stoppers needs your help in identifying suspects in criminal damage and theft from vehicle cases.

Over the last three months Madison's East side has seen a dramatic increase in thefts from vehicles.

Over this last weekend a BB gun was used to shoot out numerous car windows. Several reports also listed an unknown object was used to break the windows.

It is unknown at this time whether the intent was to gain access to the vehicles or to just cause damage to the vehicles.

Remember these safety tips:

  • Keep your vehicle doors locked when parked in your driveway or garage overnight.
  • DO NOT leave valuables, including spare house or car keys in your vehicle.Spare car keys have led to your vehicle being stolen.Leaving purses and wallets has led to credit card fraud.
  • Report any suspicious people or vehicles to the police. Please obtain any license plates on suspicious vehicles.

If you have any information on these suspects or information on these cases please contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014 or on the web at www.TipSubmit.com

Individuals contacting Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
