Crime Prevention Blotter

Crime Prevention Tip of the Week!

August 11, 2015 11:09 AM

Be careful when using Craigslist for job opportunities. The latest scam starts with the victim contacting the possible employer for a position as a personal assistant.  The job would require that the victim receive mail and cash checks.

What ended up happening was that the suspect would issue a bad check to a victim.  The victim would deposit the check in her account and would wire the money to the suspect overseas.

By the time the check was discovered to be bad the victim had the wired money from her account.

Be very careful when using Craigslist.
