Meeting and Event Highlights for the Week of July 13
postedHi Everyone,
We're headed into another hot week with temps in the 90s. Take care to hydrate, wear sunscreen and stay out of the direct sun if you can. Be mindful of your pets as well. I've found that taking Bella for a long walk on shady streets is better in this weather than going to a dog park. When we do go, she tends to park herself under the shade of tree and look at me like, "Hey, it's too hot here for me to run around." Instead, walking her in Forest Hill Cemetery under the shade of those mighty oaks makes for a lovely morning stroll.
Here's what's up this week:

Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place today, Monday, July 13, at 5:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include development-related requests in Districts 12, 13, 14, and 15. Specifically, Edgewood's proposed conditional use permit to upgrade their athletic facility is on the agenda. I am in support of this proposal with the conditions articulated in the staff report (with the caveat conditions 2-4 must not be amendable in the future as a minor alteration.) I've also asked Plan Commission to request the Building Inspection Division to submit a report after one year of operations to ensure the impacts to the neighborhood are, for example, within the design parameters of Edgewood's new sound system. (For more details, please see my recent blog post.)
