Week of July 6th
postedDear District 16 Neighbors,
I hope that you're having a wonderful weekend and finding time to relax and enjoy the festivities with loved ones.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Elvehjem Neighborhood Fourth of July Celebration last weekend! Thank you to all of the local businesses that donated to the silent auction and came out to make balloon animals, paint faces, and celebrate our community.
I also had the privilege of joining County Supervisors Blazewicz, Boetcher and Rylander for the ARRL field day. It was great to learn from the folks at Wisconsin Emergency Management, Dane County Emergency Services and the Ham radio operators on the importance of this infrastructure.
Thank you to everyone who came out to the public informational meetings on the Planned Development Re-zoning. If you were not able to make it, you can watch the recordings here. Additionally, thank you to everyone who joined the budget listening session on Transportation and City Services. Our next budget engagement session will be on July 16th from 6:00-8:00pm at Vel Philips Memorial High School.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm eager to hear from you!
-Sean
I-39 Corridor Construction
As many of you are aware, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be doing re-construction and significant upgrades to the I39/90 corridor that runs through the center of District 16 and much of the east side of the city.
Some of this reconstruction includes potential new noise barriers, additional general traffic lanes, upgrades to bridges crossing I39/90 (including Milwaukee St. and Cottage Grove Rd. to include bike and pedestrian accommodations), as well as a new on/off ramp on I-94 near Milwaukee St. and County TT. The public is welcome to submit comments on the project at any point using this form.
Much of the construction is still many years out from beginning, as there is still significant planning and funding needs. If you would like to follow along, you can do so on the new project webpage here. You can find maps detailing specific locations of improvements here. Note that most of the District 16 improvements are on pages A4-A11. You can also sign up to receive emails about the project by filling out this form.
