  • 250 Years: Have a fun and joyful Independence Day. Thanks to the Spring Harbor Neighborhood Association for inviting me to ride in their parade. As always, the Wexford Village Picnic was full of folks of all ages enjoying food, games, and community. Note that Metro service is curtailed today and drop-off sites are closed.
  • District 19 Common Council Items: On June 29 the Plan Commission recommended approval of two new Tax Incremental Finance Districts (TID's) and a final amendment of a mature TID.
    • Item 55 (Legistar 93412) is a final amendment to TID 46 known as the University Research Park TID. The amendment will enable funding of some additional infrastructure, small business loans, and affordable housing.
    • Item 59 (Legistar 93420) creates a new TID that fills in a gap in TID 46 along the Odana Corridor and is referred to as the “Grand Teton" TID, recognizing a large affordable housing project it will support as well as infrastructure for general growth in the area.
    • Item 60 (Legistar 93428) creates a new TID that fills in one other gap in TID 46 along the Odana Corridor and is referred to as the “Medical Circle" TID, recognizing a large affordable housing project it will support as well as infrastructure for general growth in the area.
  • Learn to Drive a Pontoon, Tuesday, July 7Gain boating confidence from Madison Boats captains. We've partnered with Madison Boats for this Learn to Drive a Pontoon class at Marshall Park. Join their amazing captains as they demonstrate the basics of driving a pontoon boat and basic boating safety. 
  • Bird & Nature Adventures | Owen, Saturday, July 11: Explore Owen Conservation Park on gentle trails through historic oak openings on a hillside with an Ice Age kettle and along restored prairies with beautiful vistas on this high point overlooking the west side of Madison.

Updates and Notices

  • Payment Systems Scheduled MaintenanceMunicipal Services Bill, Property Taxes, and General Billing Invoice payments will be down for maintenance beginning 9pm on Wednesday, July 8 through 8am on Monday, July 13.

Boards, Commissions, and Committee Meetings

Note: This is not a complete list of meetings for this upcoming week. All meetings and their details can be found at the Meeting Schedule page.

  • Finance Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 7, at 6:30 p.m. in hybrid format. Agenda items include a presentation on the 2027 Operating Budget outlook. 
  • Board of Public Works: The Board of Public Works meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 8, at 4:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include Authorizing a jurisdictional transfer agreement between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Madison for portions of S. Park Street, W. Washington Avenue, Proudfit Street, North Shore Drive, John Nolen Drive, and S. Blair Street.
  • Board of Park Commissioners: The Board of Park Commissioners meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 8, at 6:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include adopting the Comprehensive Master Plan for Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
