Building Inspection Counter Appointments
Building Inspection plan review and zoning review counters will be open to the public by appointment only.
Inspections
The inspections you will need depends on the scope of work. If you are the home owner doing the work, you will need to request inspections for each permit independently. If you are a general contractor, you may call in only inspections for the building permit. Subcontractors must call in for their own inspections.
To find out what inspections you need, please assess your open permits and the project scope. Then, review the guidelines below. After your inspection, the inspector will leave a tag on site with the result.
Building Permit Inspections
- Footing. Confirm hole depth and base fill. Call for inspection before you pour concrete footings.
- Foundation. Wall forms are in place on footings. Call for inspection before you pour concrete foundation walls.
- Under Slab Insulation and Vapor Barrier. Under basement floor insulation and vapor barrier. Call for inspection before you pour concrete slab.
- Rough Framing. Exposed existing or new wall, floor, or ceiling framing. Call for inspection after you finish plumbing, heating, and electric runs. Make sure you call before you insulate or conceal the area.
- Insulation. Call for inspection after you install insulation and wall vapor barrier where needed. Make sure you call before you install drywall.
- Final. – The work is complete. Includes final finishes like installed electrical devices and plumbing fixtures. Make sure you call before you occupy the area.
Plumbing, Electrical, or HVAC Permit Inspections
- Underground. Any below-grade work or trenching for mechanicals. Call for inspection before you cover the area.
- Rough. Mechanical items that will be inside wall or building cavities. Call for inspection before you conceal the area or install electrical devices (switches, outlets, lights) or plumbing fixtures.
- Final. The work is complete. Includes final finishes like installed electrical devices and plumbing fixtures. Make sure you call before you occupy the area.
You can request an inspection once you are done with the work.
