Snow Plowing Update: March 18, 2026
Bottom Line:
3/18/26: Slight chance for wintry mix – including freezing rain - overnight could make for a slippery morning commute. Streets Division plows will be on the salt routes should the storm arrive.
What's the weather doing tonight?
During overnight hours, air temperatures are expected to be right around freezing with pavement temperatures close to the same.
Forecasts show there will be chances for rain, maybe a bit of snow, and right around the morning commute, we could possibly see some freezing rain.
What's the Streets Division doing?
We will have crews ready to be deployed during the overnight hours to the salt routes should conditions require it. Crews will be applying salt as needed in response to any wintry mix or freezing rain.
If by chance the overnight weather misses us, crews will use this opportunity to continue clean-up work from the blizzard and push snow back tighter to the curb in places that still need attention.
What to expect on the roads
Considering the uncertainty – near freezing temperatures with chances for precipitation - the wisest thing would be to anticipate needing extra time during the overnight hours and on your Thursday morning commute due to the potential for slippery, maybe icy, conditions.
Be slow. Be patient. Be mindful of bridges and hills. Anticipate your stops and turns so you do not slide. As usual, make good choices.
If some of this precipitation arrives as a freezing rain be careful on sidewalks and other paths as even the thinnest sheen of ice can make getting around a challenge.
According to forecasts right now, the weather will steadily improve throughout the day, ultimately providing us with a 40 degree day on Thursday.
Monitoring Condition
Streets Division staff will be monitoring the roads at the weather. Operations will adjust as conditions require.
