Set Up Online Account

Creating a Metro Fast Fare account is a smart and convenient way to travel with Metro Transit. 

Track your rides, check your balance, add funds, and register reloadable Fast Fare cards. 

How to Set Up

  1. Visit the Metro Fast Fare Account page and click Sign Up in the top right corner. You’ll need a valid email address to create your account.
  2. Register your Fast Fare Smart Cards by selecting Tap & Ride. You can add up to 50 cards to your account.
  3. Add Funds using a debit or credit card before you ride.

*Cash can be converted at a Station Ticket Machine, Sales Outlets, or Metro's Administration Office.


Pick Up Your Fast Fare Card

Pick up at Metro Transit (1245 E. Washington Ave.), any Madison public library, or request one by email at mymetrobus@cityofmadison.com.

Register Cards Online

Once you've created a Metro Fast Fare Account, follow these steps to register your Fast Fare card:

  1. Log in to your account and click Get Started with Tap & Ride.
  2. Enter the First 10 Digits of the number located on the bottom of the back of your Smart Card.
  3. Name your card, this is especially helpful if you're managing multiple cards or riders. (You can add up to 10 cards.)
  4. Click Register Smart Card to complete the process.
  5. Add Funds or check your available balance before you ride.

Board with the Mobile App

Riding on the go is easy with the Metro Transit Fast Fares mobile app, keeping you connected to your online account. When you're ready to ride and have funds available, simply open the app, log in, scan your fare, and hop on board!
