Smoke alarms provide an early warning of fire. Tenants must practice fire safety – never tamper with alarms! Owners must place smoke alarms in specific areas. The Fire Department lists other responsibilities for tenants and owners.

Carbon monoxide alarms warn of high levels of carbon monoxide. This is an air quality health hazard.
