Trash & Recycling Carts
You must put your carts on the curb, terrace, or end of your driveway for Streets to collect your trash and recycling. However, you cannot have your cart on the curb for long. Note: Streets will only pick up trash and recycling in the City supplied carts.
Cart removal
To avoid a complaint, make sure you
- Put your cart out within 12 hours before your collection day.
- Bring your cart in within 24 hours after your collection day.
- As the property owner, you must provide adequate trash and recycling facilities.
If you put your cart out too early, it's more likely to fall over or release trash. If you keep your cart out too late after collection, it's a hazard. Carts can get in the way of driving, parking, and using the sidewalk.
Cart storage
Trash carts need to be stored
- inside your garage or
- in locations described in MGO 27.05(2)(cc)
Trash carts should not be stored
- on the terrace
- in the yard
